Played 77 games for St Kilda from 1955 to 1959.
Coached St Kilda 1961 to 1976
Finals: 1961, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973 (one flag)
Coached Hawthorn 1981 to 1987; 1989 to 1990
Finals: 1982-1990 (3 flags)
Coached Richmond 1992

Total games coached 575 (62% winning).

I met him in 2009, and he was just like his public persona: humble, clear, honest and full of integrity.

Just heard Allan Jean's pre 1989 Grand Final address to the Hawks team, played by Steve Price & Sam Newman on MTR - sensational!

Would be inpirational to play to the Saints before the West Coast game.

thanks for the memories, especially the day in the park in Cheltenham when you told me to get more control of it son in your typical no frills stern cranky fashion, you frightened the bags out of me, just knowing a legend was watching.
