Channel 7 with Port match telecast
Good news, IMHO.
I'm pretty sure we've had to put up with the weinershnitzels of Channel Chump... I mean 10 and those howling dogs on heat on Foxtel for the last few interstate matches.
I have to admit I rarely watch the game on television these days. I only really watch it if there is St.Kilda involved. This is mainly because the standard of commentary these days is just downright atrocious. It's almost better having the television volume on the mute setting.
Anyhoo, does this mean we will we be getting both Cometti and McAvaney calling tomorrow's game?
I can most certainly put up with that.

Bruce - what a pain in the butt. Thank good no more channel 10. Some new talent would be good for 2012. Put some of the old guys out to pasture.
I simply want a footy caller to call the game and nothing else. Don't want to hear their opinion etc. There are special comments guys for that, While the ABC are not up there the content of their calling is much better in my eyes. Peter Donnegan is one of the best at what ever sport he calls.

No dwayne russel, no robert walls, no quarterbrain, no andy maher.
Could almost be good to listen to.
But the umpires are inevitably going to be atrocious.
I can see Zac getting pinged for chopping the arms all night when he perfectly punches the footy.

Donnegan was the perfect boundary rider for Channel 7 back in the day. Unfortunately, the networks want egos and not real journalism.Saints Angel wrote:I simply want a footy caller to call the game and nothing else. Peter McKenna (apart from his Hawthorn fetish) and Don Scott were good special comments people for their time. Bobby Skilton too, was good to listen to.
AFL sportcasting has gone backwards. Most of the hacks we have behind the microphones these days would fail at calling an episode of Gladiators. It's embarrassing.

Fair call too.saint66au wrote:If we lose I'm fully expecting a 5 page thread on how crap the commentary was and how they all were barracking for Port all game
..if we win said thread wont exist
In the future, every team will no doubt have its own network. We'll probably have a Saints TV commentary team. They seem to have this with a lot of overseas pro-sports entities.
I have a suspicion One HD is run by Arsenal FC fans

Fortunately, my remote has a little button which allows me to turn off the commentary, which is as necessary on a TV broadcast as it is watching the game live. Sometimes I contemplate putting on Mozart's 42nd as background ambience. Alas, he died before he could write it. I hope this muting technology becomes more widespread which might alleviate some people's anxiety.

Love the mute button. It is a handy little thing to shut up Bruce or anyone else that really annoys the hell out of you.

Often yelling at the TV is more than at a game because you can't see the broader picture around the ground. Expect there to be lots of yelling today, particularly with it being wetEastern wrote:Show some bloody PASSION you lot.
Forget the commentary and just watch the game. Yelling at your TV is permitted !!

As has been alluded to earlier in this thread, Ch 7 in northern states streaming fox's coverage of pies v north.
You'd think now that there's about 4 variations of ch 7 they could show the saints game on one of em.
Don't suppose anyone's happened across a streaming option? Really wanted to watch this one.

I am very good at abusing the tv, thank god I have the mute button. It just pisses me of when the score shows us losing, I figure it must be an issue with the tv, for surely we are always in frontEastern wrote:Show some bloody PASSION you lot.

Put the fire screen in front of the tv and hurl cans! Make sure that the Mrs is in a good mood first.
