Really a bit bizarre, but it says a lot about the people who post here and the value of their opinions. The great thing about a free society is that everyone is entitled to express their opinion, even if it is ill considered. Not only that, when it comes to voting, their vote counts as much as anyone else's. That does confer a modicum of responsibility on the opinion writer or the voter to inform him or herself, a responsibility that, it seems, has gone out the window.

Sorry you are wrong in the statement - according to Saintsational voters - he has not been in the best 5 regularly, not that he is not considered in our best 10. This is an example of having to narrow your focus to pinpoint what the statistics say, not drawing the long bow!

Yes. How do you stand it perfectionist. Having deal to with people less intelligent than you all the time. Luckily you are so patient, understanding and magnanimous as well as possessing superior intelligence. You can counter the frustrations of your intellectual superior by also possessing moral superiority.perfectionist wrote:...Saintsational members voting in 13 rounds.

Patronising as the OPP post is. Without thinking its not far off.
On quick thoughts my 2011 rankings would be:
Fisher
Daylight
Dal
Montagna
Gwilt
Peake
Steven
Armo
BJ
Milne
Roo
So I sneak him at 11th.

Nick would have just climbed into the top ten
Ast week.....
His worst year since 2001 when he was a rookie off knee surgery, and missed 16 weeks.....
Joey has had a poorer year, with minor injury, hard tags effecting him
Goddard has not been as poor statistically as we think, considring je went down in the first quater of that game........ think that after the gf's we thought he was superman, and he was going to average 40 a game...
The tactic of the opposition playing their best player on him, actually threw him and cost us dearly....whilst he was believing the hype and trying to get 40 touches, 20 marks and 4 goals a game, he forgot about his opponents....

If you want a serious answer then perhaps have a little reflection on the question.I ask a serious question when I ask this.
Could he play if he wasn't captain and how would he react under a new captain telling him what to do?
From the outside looking in his ego seems beyond copping with that!
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Who cares. He is the captain and IMO will remain so for at least the next 3 years.Tess wrote:I ask a serious question when I ask this.

At any rate, it's Ross and the coaches who would tell him what to do, the captain is more the motivational guy on the park rather than having much in the way of tactical gems to share.
You think Maxwell tells Swan what to do?
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
I reckon he'd probably fall out of the top 10 if he stopped bleaching his hair.
That seems to have happened with Jason Gram
Not even a blonde hair do could make Grammy any better. Through injury I think he has lost a lot of his game. We miss his driving kicks to the forward line.

It could be argued that his big game performances don't include the most important of the big games. I've got this theory that to be labelled elite you have to perform in grand finals, and arguably premierships.BigMart wrote:Nick riewold is our best candidate for captain.....by a mile

Obviously Nick is in our best 3 players on talent but his 2011 has been poor.
Plain and simple he doesnt kick enough goals and misses too many set shots.
If you want to be a heavy hitter as a key forward getting paid the big bucks you need to kick 60 + goals for the year. He will be miles below that in 2011.
