we want a ruckman who is versatile and can play forward.

I'm not so sure he is out of favour at the Lions is he?SainterK wrote:I'm not convinced we're a chance to get him, I've heard GWS are offering him bucket loads.
The only thing stopping a 24 or 25 year old from going to GWS is basically the chance to play in a premiership. If he'd prefer premiership over money, then we are surely a better option for him. Where, other than a line in an article and on here (and the fact RL wants another key fwd) does it say we are keen as for him?
I love Kosi, and want for him to succeed more than anything, but form, injuries or suspension is killing him and I'm not sure how much longer we can afford to give him a game based on hype and potential.

1.I am sure he wouldn't care about team tactics as long as he gets a paycheck, gets a long with team mates and gets to play.bobmurray wrote:Would Mitch Clark want to come to St Kilda as a forward knowing that he'd spend half his time standing in defence with the rest of the team...
2. He aint coming to st kilda

he's way to good in comparison to the players the saints like to trade/draft for.Saints94 wrote:What makes you so sure?bobmurray wrote:Correctausfatcat wrote:

That's been very true since our big recruiting days of getting Gehrig and Hamill. Since then we have put faith in our 'core' and generally only recruited fringe players to fill holes. It will be very interesting to see if we finally put in a serious effort at snaring a quality player with a hefty price tag.bobmurray wrote:he's way to good in comparison to the players the saints like to trade/draft for.
With the departure of some senior players in Gardiner, Baker and Blake (as well as any players traded) we should have some cap space to target something better than whoever Richmond delist this year.
Problem for us is we now have a very good top 6 who are well remunerated for their work. We have little room to move in the salary cap so if we want a profile player we have to lose a profile player. I wouldn't be too keen to see those players on our web page somewhere else.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Difficult era to do that.
New clubs witrh ALOT more money and other clubs with windows to premierships more ajar are better propositions for "big tails".
The fact there are too few and no depth means you keep compounding the problem by going after another "big fish".
One player makes very little difference, player identifying, development over a group makes all the difference.
I think this is smacking of desperation.
Grass roots playing list is the problem.

Clarke will command 600k or more, especially at GWS....
We have nick going onto the vet list.....most of tnat would go into new contracts to secure exististing gun players.....goddard, dal, joey or pay their back ended contracts....would have been forecasted and already used....as it was a known variable....
Gards, blake, baker....not highly paid.....will free up some pace
But winmar, stevn, armitage, lynch will also get pay rises..
Space can only be created by giving up something to create space and you would possibly need to dump 3 medium paid players 250-350k

None of those players have offered us a great deal this year, Clarke never really has if we're being honest. Gilbert the only one that I would begrudge giving up but realistically the only one with any currency to help make the deal happen.BigMart wrote:Clarke will command 600k or more, especially at GWS....
