Interesting decision in the last qtr.

A Collingwood player marked on the beachside back pocket.
He then played on and Raph who was running in from behind got a hand on the ball to dislodge it.
Ump blew whistle and paid a 50m penalty with a bemused Raph asking why.
Had the umpire called playon when Raph got a hand in?? Player cant do that until the umpire has called it no matter h9ow obvious it is the bloke with the ball is off

I saw the 50 but didnt see what happened as I was right down the other end.

I didn't hear the whistle myself.
But from the way Raph rushed at the player to get his hand in, and then from the way he disputed it,
I am assuming he was of the distinct opinion that the whistle had gone.
(Or else he doesn't know the rules!!)

from where I sat I read it that the Pies player had taken off and Raph then touched the ball
I was too far away to hear ump pr whistle so not sure whether it was pre or post play on movement.

Aaron Hamill....paid out

Andrew Lovett, a very recent example....well not really, but I like to mention him occasionally - for the 1m he cost us, the first round DP he cost us....and the B&F winner he cost us....

But I was mainly talking about other clubs

Charlie Gardiner

Brett Voss.....was told he wasnt a part of the next years plans...

Of course, Mini, Leigh Fisher, Eddy were put on the rookie list.

Aaron Hamill. Yep that is real lately and Andrew Lovett, what a great example. Gardiner had no contract and neither did Brett Voss. The other 2 were still at the club as I suggested. Got anyone else?

ah plugger.......thats a fair effort knowing the contract positions of all of the delisted players....at stk, and in the league....

Are you absolutely sure NO players are delisted with time left on their contract..... because hard decision have to be made sometimes.

of course there is one massive example, of a player cut before his contract expired...

and on Gardiner, was he only given 1 year.....thats an unusual new club contract.....we do concede Hamill had 500 000K written off

This started about Heyne not somthing that happened 6 years ago but lets face it the facts have never worried you. Anyway Heyne has a year to go, whereas you are at your best after a loss which could be next week.

Is this his second game back from a 3 month injury sustained in the opening minute of the first game of the season - and first full game?

I repeat that some on here have absolutely no idea.

No doubt Cahill will be in the Seniors at Sandringham next week - and we hope the ability to kick goals maintains.
Many are prepared to write off Cahill because, like Heyne, he's been around for a while without doing much. But it's certainly not over yet.

An advantage he has is that he can kick goals (if I recall he kicked 6 in the game before he was injured) and Ross has indicated we need to find a forward to help Roo.

His career could well fail due to a combination of attitude and injury however there's still enough games left this year for him to make a statement.

A strong performance, and lots of goals, in the second half of the season would provide a very good reason for retention.

The ball's in his court.

I see Johnson kicked three today to follow his five last round? Didn't see the game, but he seems to know where the goals are also. Good to see a few guys sticking their hands up when we are screaming out for a key forward.

BEST:
Sandringham: Curren ANDREOLI Cathcart Cahill Smith-Cameron Heyne

Go Cahilll!
Curran could be a chance for an elevation next year - solidly built mid that's starting to progress. would like to see him in the 1st's.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Sorry, i think my post was badly worded. Take my word, i would want anything but a saints player getting an injury, what i was trying to say was it would take something like an injury to stop ross from picking these players that are not up to scratch at AFL level anymore, and will do nothing for our side moving forward.

he's played a couple in the ones but also missed a couple with injury (and a big chunk of pre-season). i've never seen him play so i have no special insight. but at 178/76 when drafted (mcqualter size) it sounds like he'll need at least another year to build up to afl size.

still, good to see competition for places. doesn't sound like andreoli and ferguson did heaps wrong before dropping back to the reserves this week.

http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/a-jo ... 1glo3.html

jolly good day except they lost......... failed to even mention the score or the result.

second article is Zebra focused
http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/exbo ... 1glse.html
almost the same from the other paper

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/p ... 6082421385
with same information does include this
Jolly, on the comeback from a knee injury and fresh from training in Arizona, dominated with 29 hitouts and 23 disposals in the 31-point loss to Sandringham.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....

Werribee and Sandringham have all but shut the door on the final eight, with Box Hill and Collingwood effectively three wins outside.

"We want to play finals, but if we can't beat teams above us on the way there it might not be worth it," Sandy coach Brett Lovett said.

The Zebras' Essendon recruit Marcus Marigliani made a seamless return from injury, giving his side the lead with two final-quarter goals, while St Kilda's Andrew McQualter and Tom Ledger combined for 62 disposals.
