Next 6 weeks - Six Wins?

Post: # 1095322Post Enrico_Misso »

If the Dogs win tomorrow we will be in 13th spot.

BUT
the next 6 weeks could see our rejuvenation

Nth at Jihad
Port away
WCE at Jihad
Crows at Jihad
B@stards away
Freo at Jihad

6 very possible wins.
Win them all and we will probably be in the eight.

It's not just who we are playing Enrico, it's who the other teams floating around 6-12 are playing.

Some of them have pretty tough runs.

Could well win 8 of the next ten and finish with 12 1/2 wins - 6-8th

With our luck we would win 13 only.

I just dn't get why we bother losing anymore. Winning is way better fun.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

North have 3 games against top-4, 1 against Melbourne, 1 against Freo and 2 against us
Richmond have 2 games against top-4, 1 against Essendon and 2 against Melbourne
Melbourne have 3 games against top-4, 1 against North and 2 against Richmond
Freo have 3 games against top-4, 1 against North and 1 against us both at Etihad
Essendon have 3 games against top-4 and 1 against Richmond

Saints have 2 games against top-4, 1 against Freo and 2 against North

Destiny is in our hands.

North are playing much better football then we are, next week's game is far from a certainty, North will start favourites.
We also have to learn that there is a second quarter to play in each game.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Hypothetical. All 6 teams lose their games against the top-4 teams and win the others, on average.

Essendon and Freo are not likely to threaten. Richmond and North are. Only so many premiership points to go around.

We have to win the games against North or, failing that, rely on Melbourne beating Richmond.

Either way - I highly doubt we're going to go deep in September anyway.

Always play to win - a definite yes. :!:

However, there is always room to bring in a couple of young guys. They will replace "lower six" players which should not substantially impact on our competitiveness.

Whether we like it or not, having a look at some of our younger players over a few games, will place the Club's football dep't in a much better position to make some considered decisions at trade/draft time, so that we can move forward next year. Uninformed/guesswork decisions next year will only hurt us more imo.

This is truly what I believe will happen.

I HAVE seen quotes from Ross saying he intends to keep given games to the young guys, including Walsh.

I HAVE NOT seen quotes from Ross saying he's abandoned any youth policy.

People are reading far too much into the team selection for the Geelong game and the accompanying throw away media headlines.

Just a matter of flicking the switch (plus a couple of minor positional changes) Goddard to chf/ff, Riewoldt to wing. Plus the introduction of some new blood (maybe Johnson or Walsh).

Stir the predictable old structure up a bit and see if we can kick some scores

We have weathered the storm of the draw from hell and are sailing into some still water. Just hope that we actually start rowing rather than waiting for a breeze.

Forget beating the Eagles.

Will be lucky if we get within 10 goals.

Could seriously see them playing off in the GF. They have some class and are well coached.

I have been thinking along the same lines as this topic for a few weeks. Despite what others say our form is not bad. We comfortably beat Melbourne, fremantle and the Bulldogs. We were good against Collingwood for a half and we challenged Geelong all night. We should have every expectation of winning most of our remaining games. I worry that the players will be starting to lose heart and its up to Ross to point out the positives and build them up for these weeks. Another thing in our favour is that there are only 2 good sides. the rest are average and we could probably handle any of them if we play to our ability. Luckily, the whole point of the home and away season is reaching a prelim. Geelong and Coll will have to play someone and I still think we can get there if the belief is still in the playing group. (senior players especially). This is the optomistc view but we were in a similar spot in 2008.
