to me, we lost our soul, when we left moorabbin.
I've only ever known the saints at moorabbin.
Great memories, the home of our ONLY flag.
Gone because some incompetent idiot put his on self pride first and argued over a few pokie machines.
And now he's gone too.
A football club's soul

Well I hope people didnt feel the same way when we left the Junction oval as our soul would have been lost before we won our only flag.tweedaletomanning wrote:to me, we lost our soul, when we left moorabbin.

I think if you're leaving a home ground, it would be very hard no matter what for the faithful.plugger66 wrote:Well I hope people didnt feel the same way when we left the Junction oval as our soul would have been lost before we won our only flag.tweedaletomanning wrote:to me, we lost our soul, when we left moorabbin.

But a least we went to somewhere where we'd be playing games of footy. There's at least an opportunity to create history there - and that's what happened.
Although we don't play games at Moorabbin now, it still would have retained the history that was created there. And maybe retained some of the clubs soul.
But to be honest, I don't think it really matters now. All clubs have sold/souled out anyway - bar Geelong as they didn't need to.
Each club moves with the new boundaries that the AFL sets. They have to.
It's just a shame the AFL set the boundaries that they do. That's the real tragedy.
It's also why I'm amazed that North didn't happily go to the Gold Coast.
That hideous creature Tess made a comment on another thread about Collingwood's draw. It was pretty much conceding that Collingwood stopped fighting the AFL and sold out. They dance with the AFL now and get rewarded for it.
It makes me sick to the stomach that in this once wonderful competition of aussie rules footy, that this is the way to succeed now. And supporters are happy about it. Collingwood supporters are happy they won the flag, regardless of the fact it required cheating to get there. They don't care.
Sadly, nor do the history books.
North should have gone. Infact, once we closed the door on Moorabbin, we should have gone up there.
What are actually smoking. So we should have gone somewhere, who knows where, in 1992. And you tell me how often you went to where our soul is in the last 5 years? And I certainly dont see how the AFL are responsible for any of the moving but then again you probably they were responsible for aids as well.Johnny Member wrote:I think if you're leaving a home ground, it would be very hard no matter what for the faithful.plugger66 wrote:Well I hope people didnt feel the same way when we left the Junction oval as our soul would have been lost before we won our only flag.tweedaletomanning wrote:to me, we lost our soul, when we left moorabbin.

Part of the soul... well a soul that once existed, was destroyed when we left morabbin.
Something new was created at waverly and later docklands/colonial/etihad/corporate money stadium.
Which has a higher change of developing and maintaning loyalty to the club and a sense of spirit?
I think morabbin by a country mile.
Well, thank god we didn't up like fitzroy.
