We need (to recruit) players who can deliver the ball with precision into our forward 50... ahead of key forwards, even Franklin would struggle at St Kilda.
If we had a fast mid sized half forward that can win 15 forward of the centre possessions and then run and deliver the ball quickly and with precision... and maybe kick one or two himself - we'd be a whole different side... we'd start kicking 20 goals again.
That's where our improvement will come from, IMHO.

Agree thats what we need. But if we can get JT for 2012 Id sure as hell take him. Unless Daniel Rich is going to fall in our lap somehow or other.samoht wrote:We need (to recruit) players who can deliver the ball with precision into our forward 50... ahead of key forwards, even Franklin would struggle at St Kilda.

Butcher was another guy like Darling who looked like a bolter that fell away. He was highly rated and looked top 5 at one stage. Genuine forward, I didn't know where he ended up but would love to get him.
John Patton is a potential Riewoldt and will go high in the draft would love to get him somehow, trade?

We'ld need the number 1 pick to guarantee that. Coniglio, and Patton will go top two.gringo wrote:Butcher was another guy like Darling who looked like a bolter that fell away. Richmond lead the race but who knows? We may be lucky.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

John Butcher next to Arryn Sippos in the foward line would be a mouthwatering prospect for the future.
We really need to be on the look out for a deal like this, instead of trying for the short term fix to the long term problem e.g. some like Fev.
Trengrove too, would be an excellent acquisition.

Never going to happen and frankly going after big targets is just pointless. You have to give up way too much to get them, unless they specifically say they want to go to the Saints, which I doubt Trengrove would say with the way we are going.
Its best to go after players who have the potential, but are struggling due to game time, or are behind a number of other players. E.g. Previously, Josh Kennedy, Shane Mumford. Or if two clubs have a surplus of a type of player and trade them.
