Top 6 vs bottom 6

Post: # 1091892Post elvis lives »

I think tonight answered the question about who wins or loses you games. Out bottom six (gamble, peake, dempster, cj, kosi... Raph (ok 5) were actually quite good. Our top six, or most of (Roo, Goddard, Schneider, Monty) on the otherhand were woeful and it certainly showed. Reverse those two scenarios and I reckon we win

I thought Zac played quite well. Some fantastic defensive efforts. Very hard to be a defender when the backline is that open and the ball is coming in like that. Was far from our worst. Definite pass mark from me.

Let's look at our top 6 players on our list in order (imo) of merit.

Riewoldt - as badly out of form as I've ever seen him. Almost incomprehensible.

Lenny - injured. 31 years old turning 32 end of the year. Won't play this year.

BJ - Haven't seen him play this poorly since 2004 (which was only his 2nd year) At least Roo has an excuse with being double/triple teamed. BJ has lost all confidence.

Joey - was injured and subbed off tonight. Apparently absolutely nothing wrong with. That's embarrassing for him. Having much less impact w/o Lenny around.

Dal - played well tonight, and has generally had a good year this year. Certainly not his fault the way we're going.

Those top 5 are all AA in the past 2 years......

6th - Fisher - Has been fantastic to date. Shudder to think where this team would be w/o him.

So - when your best 4 players are either sadly out of form or injured, it puts enormous load on the rest of the team. AS a club we are acknowledged for having a quality top end and a dubious bottom end. Of all the top teams from last year who couldn't afford for their best players to go missing, it was us.

Zac?

Thought he played well, he and Gwilt were under enormous pressure and stood up really well.

Dal missed a lot of targets tonight. He could have brokmen the game our way, but didn't. He put in a supreme effort in the centre, but let himself down outside.

Yeah nah pleasing positive
