The Victory Room income

Post: # 1090361Post Saints43 »

I have a question regarding the Victory Room at Docklands after a home match.

When I pay $7 for a beer there do St Kilda get the money or do the stadium caterers get the money?

I would hate to think that with all those supporters in a room that the club are running shite $2 raffles while someone else is running two bars and charging a fortune for drinks.

Does anyone know?

yes. I work at etihad bars for non saints games, and that money goes to Etihad, the club doesnt get any. they are making their money off raffles and auctions.

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

Judging by Dooley's post, the thing you hate to think is correct.

Where were the brains when the stadium deal was negotiated? We should be getting a cut off of everything sold at Saints Home Games, at the least.

What's more, the "continuous" raffling noise drives me mad - it's almost impossible to have a pleasant conversation with footy mates about the day. I have suggested including some "silent auctions" in the format to reduce the noise, but no action taken.

Summary - no Saints colour/dressing in the room, no TV replays, extremely poor sound system, too many auctions, expensive drinks. Guess why myself and mates go elsewhere after the match.

One day...... perhaps in my lifetime....... the Saints will employ someone in their PR Dept capable of at least organising a fart in an outback dunny.

Couldn't agree more.....these auctions wore thin with our group (approx 10 us) a couple of years ago. We contacted the club at the time regarding the noise levels, the prices and the general blandness of the room and they couldn't of cared less.
Like other SC members we now have after match convivials outside of the ground.

It's a shame that we don't get a cut of what bar takings but to be honest going to the Victory Room after a win is one of the highlights for me. Maybe it's because I'm on the GC and don't get to too many games at Etihad.

I've always felt that those helping out at the door - the big bald guy and co. make us feel welcome and the guy interviewing the players does a great job.

Can't complain about anything connected to a 'victory' for mine!

I'd like to hear it from someone a little better connected than the bloke who works in the bar for non Saints games before I boycotted the Victory Room.

This has been discussed in the past.

All profits from the bar go to the Ian Collins retirement fund.
Not one cent goes to StKFC.

Hence why i dont buy beer from there.

Bruce Eva is the interviewer.

If you go and stand on the far side of the stage away from the bar you can hear quite clearly what the boys are saying.

But agree the function hasnt changed in 11 years since going there very bland and boring really.
