Sounds like you did. Plenty of others have also commented that they were very happy with his game that day. Sorry you missed it.meher baba wrote:I must have missed Lynch's good game in Perth.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Just noticed that Tom Lynch has been named for Sandringham this weekend. If you mean the game against Freo, I don't recall him doing anything much. Did he do a lot of good work off the ball that the TV cameras didn't pick up?
He did all he would have been asked to do, took marks leading up the ground (something we've been wanting someone else to do for years- having tried the likes of Gwilt, Dempster, etc, there, with little success), and did some really good stuff in close, to feed the ball off to others.
Playing in the position he was playing (lead up half forward), he did about as well as anyone would have expected someone in their second game to do. I'd say he would have been a certainty to have played again last week had he not injured his finger.

Everytime I go to Sandy and stand on the bench.. I look at Gamble and think, how the hell didn't he do more weights in his 5 years at Geelong. Looks like a boy.Bernard Shakey wrote:Gamble? He only has one thing to look after, his boots, and can't even do that. If he'd done his ankle he'd have an excuse for being off for 10 minutes stuffing up the rotations.SainterK wrote:If he'd played on with a broken bootlace, done his ankle, would you call him incompetent? :wink:Bernard Shakey wrote:Gamble? Harsh on Sippa - No favours from the coaches leaving him one out against the Pies defence.
Raph deserved a game - There has to be reward for good play in the VFL.
Gram - I dunno. Im cutting him some slack because of the coming court case and we know he can play when he sets his mind to it.
Gamble - genuine list-clogger in that he is not going to improve and is keeping guys with more upside like Lynch and Walsh getting the senior games under their belt they need to improve.
Polo - Well his kicking lets him down but I actually quite like him. He was so unlucky not being paid that mark.

I agree. Given our youngsters have shown a bit our delistings at the end of this year are likely to come from senior players.joffaboy wrote:A couple if all three of the replacements are playing for their careers.
Gamble has been ordinary to say the least since coming over from Geelong.
Clarke has been given more chances than most and has dissappointed over and over, really needs to show his VFL form at AFL level.
Gram is looking down the barrel like the other two.
Good move by Lyon.
If they get dropped for poor form once again, I wouldn't be suprised to see them all delisted at year end.
Like Peake and Jones, they are in the bottom 6 players and like Peake and Jones have to rise to the AFl challenge.

Would have thought they're resting Siposs, as he's done some hard work over recent weeks...he's 19 isn't he? Or, has he been named for Sandy?Con Gorozidis wrote:Harsh on Sippa - No favours from the coaches leaving him one out against the Pies defence.

Re: Gamble. If he's going to show anything, you'd think it'd be against the Doggies somewhat 'green' defenders. If he shows nothing, you'd think that'd be almost curtains for him at St Kilda. Crunch game for the club, and him.

He has been named for Sandy although that doesn't mean he'll actually play.degruch wrote:Would have thought they're resting Siposs, as he's done some hard work over recent weeks...he's 19 isn't he? Or, has he been named for Sandy?
Pretty sure he's being rested, if not altogether then at least from extreme pressure of the AFL.
And his dad has apparently sonfirmed to a FB page that Arryn is feeling sore after 4 weeks at senior level.

I doubt it; that was a clear mark, and a brave one. The upmpires got it wrong, as admitted by the Geish this week.saint tash wrote:Polo got dropped because he dropped that mark which resulted in the Krakouer goal.
I'd more believe he got dropped because he butchered the ball all night. It's alright to get it, but if you continually turn it over you expose your defence terribly.
He got it well enough, was quite brave at times, but kicked it very poorly, and faffed around indecisively at times too. No surprise to me he was dropped.

Last shot for Raph, has played about 3 reasonable games in his career. VFL player at best.
Gram can run, which is why he was picked against the under nourished doggies.
Not sure about Vegas, what has he done other than 2 good NAB cup games?
Please RL, keep trying and hardening the bodies of the young bloods so they can eventually replace these squibs for good!

Clarke had to come in after a couple of BOGs at sandy. If they didn't bring him in when in this form then they should have delisted him at the end of last year.
Gamble, the search goes on for the elusive other option to Roo up forward.
Gram is meant to be a replacement for Joey but he isn't the contested ball winner that Joey is and is no longer able to break the lines. In 2009 Gram had true pace and was one of the few players in our side with that quality. That pace meant he was excused the fact that he butchered the ball more than just about anyone else in the side because the ball transition was quick. Last year and this he seems to have lost that extra pace so now he is an outside midfielder with no defensive qualities whatsoever, below average disposal and incapable of winning his own ball. I no longer see a place for Gram. I hope I am wrong and he can regain that pace that made him a valuable contributor.
With Joey being out and with us being smashed in the clearances I would have persisted with Polo.

Wow, what a way to get shot down first up for providing an opinion about the team I have followed for more than 34 years!
Might have to retract my describing them as squibs. Squib apparently means a small explosive like package. Doesn't seem to fit for any of our ins at the moment.
Anyways, I didn't realise I was being so offensive first up. Just a bit fed up with a couple of guys getting put into the team for mediocre effort at the moment but I can understand that we have some injuries and youngens that can't replace them just yet.

Is there a specific post count before someone is allowed to call it as they see it??...
Strongly agree with this Maklom the new poster, aside from Raph...
I've given up on Raph, he is a wasted talent on the list, but we have few options at the moment with a few injuries... But he is not a squib... He puts his body on the line...
Gram doesn't... We all know that... So fair call...
And Gamble is rubbish, as soft as butter, and has no place in our side... Terrible selection...
As for the newby, 2 outa 3 aint bad... Hang around...
Yep, agree with you on Raph thinking about it more. However, he is a bit of a loosed wrecking ball at times, a bit like Kosi...fearless but brainless fearless if you know what I mean?
Anyways, thanks I will try 3 for 3 next time.
