Don't often see eye to eye with you but you are right - don't know if Sippo deserved to be dropped (given he was thrown to the wolves with our current forwardline set up) but a break will do him goodplugger66 wrote:Good side. Best we can get. If people dont like it well it suggests we arent good enough. Sipo deserved to be dropped. Gamble was OK last week as was Gram and we are missing Joey and Polo was dropped so we had to get some mids in. Walsh is unlucky as he has no role against the Dogs.
Gamble is likely to kick 4 or 5 this week - problem with him is he can't maintain it - both he and Gram will be out to show the coach something so good ins for me in a must win game
Clarke a no brainer
Dogs will be up for this game this week so no good bringing in more 1st gamers - we still have Simpkin and Ledger playing from last week
If we can break even with the dogs midfield then I reckon we will win

Yeah I agree. Maybe dropping Siposs is to rest him? Nonetheless I would have liked to see him keep his place.dcstkfc wrote:Three very risky selections for mine. All a step backwards in some ways.
They are "here and now" selections.

Competition for spots isn't a bad thing.plugger66 wrote:Good side. Best we can get. If people dont like it well it suggests we arent good enough. Sipo deserved to be dropped. Gram comes back in, someone will have to go out when Joey returns, everyone needs to work hard.
Gamble comes in, Siposs has now had a taste, Johnson too, they can all put pressure on Ryan in the coming weeks.

Last week we were great out of defence and through the midfield, we lacked a target deep.
Siposs just diddn't give us enough, I'm assuming they think Gamble will give us more of an option up forward.
Polo and Joey Going for Grammy and Raph = BJ or Dal play more time in the middle.
IMO if fit and inform Grammy is in our best 22 in a perfect world.
Raph Clarke 25 yo, 69 games in 8 years, it's now or never Raph.
Pay the club back and become a regular in our best 22.
At his best fully fit and confident Raph could be a handy player.

It's not a bad side, lots of run. Also they need to have talls that can play back, Dawson and Simpkin, as the WB have Minson and Jones - unlucky for Walsh - unless there's a late change
Just wish there was another backup ruck....
Sandringhams stats from BF - (and P66's report) all the ins played okay last week....
Clarke - 26 poss, 3 tackles (+ numerous spoils)
Gram - 20 poss
Gamble - 17 poss

He was on Dawes last week though wasn't he??plugger66 wrote:I think he will play forward pocket this week. Was practicing kicking goals with Milney on Wednesday. He comes across to me at an ideal FP.DWOODROW wrote:Anyone know why players are named in a position but don't usually play there???
Simpkin named on forward flank.
Isn't he a defender??
Do I have the right guy??

Yes he is a defender and he played on Dawes and will play back on Saturday.DWOODROW wrote:That doesn't really answer my question though does itplugger66 wrote:I was joking. Cos they're funny fellasDWOODROW wrote:So why is he named forward flank and Armitage named in the centre when we know simpkin will play back and Dave will more than likely play on the forward flank?????
I still think we need another marking option up forward. If Simpkin does go back then maybe Zac will indeed swap ends. Still reckon he's the best option to throw into the ruck when Ben needs a breather. Well best option in the named team anyway.

A couple if all three of the replacements are playing for their careers.
Gamble has been ordinary to say the least since coming over from Geelong.
Clarke has been given more chances than most and has dissappointed over and over, really needs to show his VFL form at AFL level.
Gram is looking down the barrel like the other two.
Good move by Lyon.
If they get dropped for poor form once again, I wouldn't be suprised to see them all delisted at year end.
Like Peake and Jones, they are in the bottom 6 players and like Peake and Jones have to rise to the AFl challenge.

Lance or James??

My thinking too.meher baba wrote:Raph makes sense given that, by all reports, he has had two good games in a row at the Zebras. Polo hasn't been great and doesn't demand selection.
Gram for Joey makes some sense. Ideally he would be in better form, but at least he's experienced. Smith hasn't looked like he's up to AFL standard. Bringing him back now for a do or die game would be a case of "play the kids" gone mad.
Gamble comes in because they have run out of other options. It would be grossly unfair to expect Walsh to debut at AFL level as a forward; worse still as a forward-cum-ruck. Zac in the forward line is a pipe dream, Kosi is unfit, Siposs needs a spell: what else could they do?
Gram for Joe is a shot at like for like. Gram ain't a pimple on Montgana's butt, but he's what we've got, so good luck to him. Hope he extracts a digit, hardens the F*** up and takes a few on the schnoz for his comrades...
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Walsh would have been a better selection last week with Dawes and Cloke. He'll have to wait for the right match up and keep his form up at Sandy.
Gram and Clarke are good ins IMO - Gamble we'll have to wait on for a better idea but I'm not sure who else would be a better selection.
What doesn't help Gamble is he looks lethargic and a bit behind the speed of it - beautiful grab of the ball though. Have the bullies got a lethargic defender? Hang on they can bring back Lake.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
