Cahill Archer Johnson Stanley
For us to become a contender again in the next 12 months one of these four has to become a consistent goal kicking full-forward.
Roo can then play his roaming CHF role with Sipo as the 3rd clever medium sized fwd and then two small fwds.
So fingers crossed one of them steps up and takes it on. If not we will struggle and just continue to decline.
Who will it be?

Re: Cahill Archer Johnson Stanley
Con I agree with you on this one. We need a young bloke to come on like dawes had with the pie. Since he has been a presence up fwd, it's freed Cloke up to roam the ground. Roo is better than Cloke, but you wouldn't know it at the moment. Roo would kill to have that support I reckon.Con Gorozidis wrote:For us to become a contender again in the next 12 months one of these four has to become a consistent goal kicking full-forward.

Thank you someone talking sence at last.IT is not a easy place to play as a key forward but i have seen a bit in Archer, stanley to tell me that they are bigger and mark better then then the other 2.
IT would be a great advantage haveing a 202 cm chf in stanley and a strong marking Archer at FF.
But we need to play at least 1 of them and try them there let them stay there a few weeks what do have to loose the game or will it be of long term benifit.
We would then need a nother ruck option if stanley was up forward.
But i know the nasayers will say or but they havent played well for Sandy well i dont care.Play them in the seniors lets see what they have and if after 2 games they dont perform well they can get droped like most of the other young guys.
We wont know if we dont try them we still have walsh and johnson who both could play up forward as well.
But who ever we play there needs to get game NOW not at the end of the season we need to know what they have to offer.

Totally agree we need three mobile talls up forward.Con Gorozidis wrote:For us to become a contender again in the next 12 months one of these four has to become a consistent goal kicking full-forward.

he was there... and to me showed that he has not played much football recently.Dr Spaceman wrote:Anyone know how Cahill went in the Ressies?plugger66 wrote:This is how those 4 went today.
Johnson a goal but not a KPP. Not good enough overhead
Archer Rucked more than played forward
Stanley CHB
Cahill In the reserves
So not much out of them as far as being key forwards today.

Yeah, I still reckon that if he makes it he'll do so as a forward.older saint wrote:I think Walsh may well be marked for this with him down back to learn the flow of a game from a forwards perspective.
That's what he was in that other game. And we certainly need a strong rough and ready type in the front half.
I can even remember Plugger playing a few games in defence early in his career to give him a better understanding of forward play. Not unusual at all.
If our dip in form is to be a blip rather than a sustained slide, Im afraid at least one of our 1st or 2nd year players HAVE to be automoatic selections (not just playing cos were out of contention and they are gaining experience) by years end..and at least one or two more have blistering pre seasons
Sadly if all our kids take 4-5 years to mature to the stage of getting a regular game were in for a few pretty lean years...its just the way our list is right now

I know it doesnt look likley at this stage. Someone need to pull out something out of their rear-end in the next 12 months.plugger66 wrote:This is how those 4 went today.

In Archers case he will bever make an AFL ruckman. Hes not even tall enough for the "Leigh Brown" ruckman. So whilst no doubt he can ruck at VFL level if hes not a KPP hes a nothing.
