Pretty sure that was Will Johnson, Matrix. Did a couple of really good runs into the forward line, including one where he may have done the give and go and dashed clear then kicked it out on the full.matrix wrote:was ledger that young tallish kid that did a couple of tight runs and get the give and receive a few times in one game?, played either one or two in the nab?
just remember seeing a kid and thought yeah he looks alright
bit of dash...has a go.

Sounds right APS. Will was certainly eye catching during the NAB Cup.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Pretty sure that was Will Johnson, Matrix. And you can call Ledg a lot of things, but I don't think tallish is one of them

Saw him play in the NAB Cup, but that's a while ago, so I just had a look at his YouTube highlights for the first time and really liked what I saw. A lot of Aussie Jones and Joey Montagna about him:
Great speed and I love the way he really takes them on and the way he seems to get the pill and take off, using his speed to advantage.
Very nice looking left foot, too!
Maybe another bargain buy for us, like Siposs.

Yeah very nice left foot running at full pace. Seems to have a really long striding running action, fast over the first 10-15 meters. I like what i see.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:

Possibly a Play on his name-Quixote wrote:I just heard Dennis Commetti describe Ledger as the smartest player in the AFL.
What's all that about?
Ledger
as I doubt Dennis would have seen him play.A ledger[1] is the principal book or computer file for recording and totaling monetary transactions by account, with debits and credits in separate columns and a beginning balance and ending balance for each account. The ledger is a permanent summary of all amounts entered in supporting journals which list individual transactions by date. Every transaction flows from a journal to one or more ledgers. A company's financial statements are generated from summary totals in the ledgers

I remember during the nab cup Dennis was talking up the Ledger pedigree.

Gee, a young bloke who can run, kick both feet and mark overhead. How did he get past the recruiters? Judging by our last three "Rising Stars", the ability to kick the ball either to a teammate or more than 40 metres was not one of the recruitment criteria. Blokes who can't kick are waste of time, especially if they get the ball a lot. They will only undo the work of teammates and gift goals to the opposition. The sooner they are weeded out and sent on their way, the closer we will be to our next flag. It may not be sufficient but it is necessary.
I actually got the impression Dennis was referring to IQ, and Ledger's apparent abundance of it. Seemed to be referring to some sort of result. Maybe he got a high TER - or do draftees sit tests these days?
From my limited exposure (blogs on Saints site, occasional interview), young 'Heath' has come across as very cluey about it all.

Always a tough gig when you get subbed on late in a game against a top opponent which is dominating play.Scottish Saint wrote:Not long back from the game - can't believe nobody is singing the praises of this kid. I was very excited by what I saw.
But there is a lot to like about Tom. I hope he gets a full game next week and believe he will.

i was on ledge watch! Damn that kid had a go. Ran hard. head over the ball. Full steam ahead. Won it inside under pressure heaps and may have turned it over a bit but was under the pump with little assistance ... best midfield debut in ages ... well ahead of players like Monatgna and even Hayes on debut ...
2011 not a loss if we add Steven, Armitage and Ledger to our midfield for 2012 and beyond.
Ledge based on just 40 minutes of footy V a rampaging Collingwood ... may be the best of the youngsters.
