Yay!

Well done Jack. RL said how pleased he was with his performance last week when put into the middle. Said he was quick, and gave him confidence.

I am unfamiliar with this term.

Just our fourth nomination since Montagna (Round 20 2003). I guess it says something about us being successful but it is slightly disconcerting.

Anyway, well done Jack. Keep on going. You can be a genuine star.

I'm not sure why so many people are obsessed with Rising Star nominations.

I'd rather have enjoyed a long period of success (albeit without the ultimate) than having a sometimes dubious weekly award that is more about the AFL promoting a sponsor than anything else.

Most of us know & recognise that Jack is a very good young player, just like we think that Sippo will be a gun & a few others will become quality AFL players.

Simple fact is that the Rising Star award ignores some really good kids (Why hasn't McEvoy or Armo got a nomination) & rewards some that end up being average AFL players (Rivers from Melbourne won the whole bloody thing & is just a good ordinary player!).

Grats Jack Jack.

As Ross likes to say 'great reward for effort'

Good for him personally, year started off rocky, but it's all turning around.

Some people may be obsessed, many others certainly interested.

Probably two main reasons:

1. It’s a feel good story for supporters (i.e. we “wonâ€

Can be a funny award anyway, jack kicks 3 in a match winning performance last year against the reigning premier and doesn't get the nomination yetif that was a ame on any of the other weeks he would have. Right place at right time.

Anyway I would like to see him progress to full time midfielder who drifts forward, instead of the other way around.

I'm sure that's the plan, just needs to get the waddling KMs into his legs.

He's going to be a jet. A tough as nails, goal kicking, ball winning, jet.

I really like the look of our future midfield- Armo for the inside hard yakka, Jack- as above, Cuz-the outside silk, Ledger- ball winning, quick & creative, Crocker- Left foot tracer bullets with pace.

Combine them with the experience of Dal, BJ, Joey and the Lendog & we have a very nice mix over the next few years.

Great game against Fremantle last week.

He reminds me a bit of Brent Harvey of N/Melb.

Was this really a necessary inclusion by Matt Windley in today's Herald Sun - no blood way.

Quote
"Today's announcement comes only five months since Steven, along with three teammates, was suspended for six weeks and fined after breaking team rules involving alcohol, prescription medicine and leaving the team hotel during a pre-season training camp in New Zealand."

A great effort by a young Saints guy should have been reported for what it was, not sabotaged at the back-end by a "cheap shot."
