Yep, I have a go at Milne.
He is over 30 years of age and with over 200 games to his credit.
So he is amongt the most experienced players on our list - a list which is in transition with the introduction of new, young players.
I have a bit of (successful) coaching experience behind me and at a senior level - and that experience and what I demanded from those playing in teams I coached means I come from a position where senior players lead.
So they are relied on to "rev" their fellow players up before you go onto the ground, lead onto the ground encouraging their team mates to follow, lead in the warm up drills with plenty of voice and then lead during the game by example and with plenty of encouraging voice including "revving" at the huddles.
These were non negotiable benchmarks - and particularly when the team was in transition with younger players debuting.
So, yes, Milne jogging onto the park last with his football, jogging thru the banner last with his football and then jogging around last whilst bouncing his football more worried about taking shots on goal rankles me and my competative nature.
As a senior player, I want to see him at the front leading by example and not the show pony at the rear.
I never had a brief with show ponies.
I preferred those who led - and those who acknowledged the efforts of their team mates, lifting the confidence levels of those team mates and inspiring others.
From there Milne does not lead on field - and plays a selfish game as confirmed by the number of times he takes on opponents losing the ball to free kicks against.
So Milne is not my type of footballer.
Regardless of "averaging 2 goals a game".

You are consistant. You write a lot and dont say much. Some of that stuff you have just written is just plain untrue and complete rubbish. To the top wrote:Yep, I have a go at Milne.

Milney is always up there is assists but dont let that change your mind. Running out last. Who cares. They actually rev each other up before they run through the banner. You or I wouldnt have a clue if he revs up players. Pity you dont value consistant performance over 10 years compared to a person who had one good first year and 4 good games 4 years later.

"Revving up" is a relic of the past. Professional athletes have long known that getting into a high state of physiological arousal well before performing is tiring and ultimately counter-productive. Go down to the rooms and watch the preparation. The days of coaches and players screaming "motivational" phrases while the theme from Rocky blared in the background are long gone. Preparation these days is concentrated around task clarification, discussion of tactics, the opposition and remaining as relaxed and focused as possible.
Sure the captain will gather the troops prior to the bounce and get serious with them, but condemning Milney for not indulging in an anachronistic practice is just plain ignorant. In any event, he's excitable enough. He doesn't need "revving up". His record speaks for itself. Magnificent. Point out a current or past player who has been more effective, or has performed better in the small forward role. I await with interest.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Today proved we don't need Kosi.
Why Ben was dropped last week for Kosi defies belief.
Kosi is now at best a backup for Ben.
And this will be his last season at the club.

He will likely be back this week.
Let's just take it one week at a time, and do our best not to write off players at OUR club?

Some looney signed him for next year as well, but it wouldn't be the first time we've delisted a player under contract. No possibility of trading him though.Enrico_Misso wrote:Today proved we don't need Kosi.

And not long ago, you didn't want Peake to get a game - glad you're not on the selection panelEnrico_Misso wrote:Today proved we don't need Kosi.

That's right some idiot has him signed up for next year too but its time to give up on him. Sippos has more to offer now as long as they keep playing him. He may not be a better mark yet but he's faster than Kosi and a better kick than both him and Roo.Bernard Shakey wrote:Some looney signed him for next year as well, but it wouldn't be the first time we've delisted a player under contract. Re: Kosi must play
You have to be joking, iam a big fan of kosi but iam a bigger fan of the saints and to have him play today would have been a mistake. He will not take us to the premership but Big Mc might thats the difference.CURLY wrote:Seriously dont understand why people on here want him dropped. Its no coincedence that when hes in the side we won our only two games. Riewoldt clearly plays better with Kosi in and we just look more dangerous. I know his stats dont always back him but his effort is always for the team and we lack presence when hes not playing.
Also to the clown on here who posted on here that Kosi got kneed in the head twice while rucking was due to lack of awareness. FFS get a clue.
Big mc played very well and dominated the ruck and got a lot of the second efforts we have to stick with him now as he will get better.
Iam afraid kosi wont and its not helping our side if he is in now unless he has same fantastic form For Sandy.
Okay Hero, Milney is always ALWAYS last out. Its like a tradition for him. and if you watch any game. Milne is ALWAYS chatting in the huddles. he is ALWAYS revving the boys up.To the top wrote:Yep, I have a go at Milne.

Winmar
as in Nicky Winmar
Number #7
was always the last player to run out.
Then he actually used to jog around the banner rather than run through it.
And he seldom got vocal with his team-mates.
Does that make him a disinterested dud?
As for criticising Milne for not being vocal!!!!!
Are you aware his nickname is yapper?

Who needs enemies when you have supporters like these?
Feel the desperate need to bag someone, well go have a look here and pick a target to unleash on next week.

Maybe you need to snap out of your blind faith for those that wear a Saints jumper. J.Koshitstick must be the luckiest bloke in the country to earn more than a 1/4 of a million a year and have absolutely no binding KPI's on his performance. We need to have players that will contribute to winning a flag.SainterK wrote:Who needs enemies when you have supporters like these?

He is fast running out of time to prove himself.. I think in 4 years, he and his sympathisers, will be out of excuses.. The limited time left will tell if us Saints supporters have been harsh in our ongoing criticism of him..No other club would afford one of it's serial under performers this much latitude.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

You are not the coach, or a selector.
Just because you say he is on his last chance, or he is running out of time, means a big fat zero.
Oh and how original with the nickname, something you'd hear yelled out by an 'opposition' supporter....so thanks for summing up my point perfectly Bob

usually dont see bobmurray unless we lose, actually hope for it earlier in the season so he could come on here and bag players.
obviously his self esteem is wrapped up in his football team, and can never be happy.
If we won a flag bobmurray would find something to complain about.

Face it guys, moaning bitching supporters like bobmurray are part and parcel of supporting a football club.
it attracts weak minded individuals who think they are more so important they can demand things to happen at a football club.
Would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
