No I think it was incidental contact as he had eyes on the ball. Same as when going for a mark.
Not in a ruck contest. Its defanatley not allowed. Fair enough too imagine what sort of damage that could be inflicted at a boundry throw in by the third man up.
It is allowed if eyes are on the ball.
You have a duty of care you cant just jump front on and knee players in the head. Its paid all the time.
seriously curly, I dont know what code of game you must be watching then
the only time a free kick would be given is when the ruckman makes NO attempt at the ball, or badly mis-timed, so htat it takes out the opposition ruckman.
A free kick has never been paid against a ruck man who can actually manage to get off the ground.
How many marks of the century would there be if a free kick was paid for a knee to the back of the head?
Not in a marking conest no. But you cant in a ruck contest. How many blokes would last a game if you could just leap front on into there head.
The ruckman hit the ball though. Its not his fault Kosi is a complete duck and didnt protect himself at all.
How would you of liked him to protect himself?

If you watch Rossys presser, he mentions they are likely to persist with Blake and Kosi in the ruck, and then later talks about forward targets of Roo, Kosi and Siposs.

It appears Kosi is playing, but sometimes it can be entirely the opposite, so who knows.

Hey Curly, how many excuses can we keep giving him? He was pathetic, couldn't jump, could not run and could not mark. Why is he getting games, surely our coach is playing favorites. It's damn time players earnt a game with us. Saint supporters around me on Level C on Saturday were all saying he was terrible to watch, and are mystified how he keeps getting selected. Even Blake who is only a pinch hitter ruckman brought the ball to the ground at times. I have seen some top games from Kosi over many years but sadly he is gone.

If Ross can't see it then perhaps it may be time for him to go as well as it is a blind man who sees only what he wants to see.

Why does he need excusing anyway?

Plenty of other guys have had quiet games this year, and some had quite a few in succession.

It wasn't his best game, big deal, it happens.

Hopefully he does better this week.

So just because Ross sees things a bit different to the real experts in the outer he should go?

Kosi wasn't that flash last year and we nearly won the whole damn thing!

Ross obviously thinks Kosi brings something to the team at the moment even if you can't see it.

So what was the free against Blake for?

Kosi did get one free kick paid in the centre square ruck contest for a similar jump into him, but we scrounged the ball forward so advantage was paid.

Totally inconsistent.

Which is a lowlight of umpiring these days.

We will miss Cripps dash in off the square - even though he mistimed one and gave away a free!

Myth - At the 2000 National Draft, Justin Koschitzke pulled a gun on Saints recruitment staff and forced them to use pick 2 on him.

Fact - In the 2000 National Draft St Kilda chose Justin Koschitzke with pick 2.

Myth - Justin Koschitzke is allowed to name himself in the senior St Kilda lineup each week, after which the selectors choose another 21 players to keep him company on the field.

Fact - The St Kilda selectors name a team for each round. Often Justin Koschitzke is named. Justin's contract requires him to play if selected otherwise he could face legal action.

Myth - At the end of each contract period Justin Koschitzke enforces an option whereby St Kilda must continue to employ him, on a high wage, regardless of his value to the team.

Fact - The St Kilda Football Club decides who it will retain on its list and who it will not.

Bottom line - Kosi is at the club, and getting a game, because that is what the club wants. If you've got a beef it should be with the club, not the man.

The guy has taken a huge number of knocks over the last decade, all while wearing the Red, White and Black of the team we passionately support. Yes it's disappointing that he has not been able to live up to the enormous potential he showed earlier in his career.

But to suggest he's not putting in and that he's just taking a pay cheque, as some on here have done, is insulting to one of our own.

That might be fine for some but it just doesn't sit well with this supporter.

Always gets to this time of the week and i start believing in Kosi again and want him to play and start to play well.

I really want him to hold his frigging ground this weekend! A guy that big should not be bustled out of marking contests so easily.

"the supporters around me on Level C"

No doubt these "supporters" sitting in Level C are far, far more knowlegable than the Senior Coach and the members of the coaching panel.

That is why they are up in the bleachers, so far away the players must look like ants (or I assume they do because I have never been to the bleachers - except once at the MCG and that was when I took the kids to see Michael Jackson and could not do any better with tickets).

I take my "pots" on this forum against those such as Milne (If I were on the St Kilda coaching panel I know exactly what I would be demanding from him starting from his appearance on the ground - leadership, not a "2 goals a game average" show pony who concedes free kicks as he did last week giving confidence to the opposition - how many times did he not do the team thing, tried to take on the park and got pinged for holding onto it conceding turn over goals at the other end? The performance continues because that is Milne and we should have no room for him. Better a Cripps who hares in off the square to make a contest and still kicks his "two goals a game"), Dempster (honest but honest is not good enough to deliver the ultimate plus he can not hurt with possession), Mc Qualter (not even honest), Dawson, Baker and Blake (poor offensive skills with no run and no delivery = no metres gained in a game where metres gained is the benchmark with the pill).

But, Koschitzke being chosen by the idiot selectors (compared to Level C "supporters" that is) is because of what he brings to the table, the way he combines with Riewoldt (and takes second fiddle to Riewoldt without any hysterical arm waving) and his ability to at least contribute to the ruck (given the rule changes).

Perhaps those of you on Level C can take a look at the structure of our forward line and the way Koschitzke moves to compliment Riewoldt, moving into the prime focal position when Riewoldt goes up the ground and then "drifting" off to the opposite side of the ground when Riewoldt is around the 50m line or just outside - and he takes someone (plus) with him creating space for Riewoldt.

There are times when I am fustrated - but these are when Koschitzke makes the advantage position including behind his opponent but, instead of going to him we fiddle around in the mid field, going sideways and that intital advantage is closed down.

And his is not Inspector Gadget, so when we get the (unfortunately consistent) bad bounces with the ball in the air over him denying him any run up but giving a fuller run up to the opposition, he can not vertical jump 1 metre and crash into the opposition ruckman to take him out of the contest.

If you clowns want superman, continue to read your comics.

So it is OK for you to continually have a go at Milney for things you seem to think you see and dont see but it isnt for others who may happen to be Level 3 not to have a go at Kosi. Kosi is out of form. Simple. He got knocked off marking contests the other day because he had no strength or awareness of where the ball was going. Having said that the selectors know more than me I can handle Kosi being in the side.

What I cant handle is person having a go at people saying things about Kosi who probably deserves a few less popular comments but then that person continues in just about every post he does, continually having a go at Milney who has been in better form than Kosi for at least 5 years. Seems you use every excuse for Kosi but luckily Milney doesnt need excuses. He just continues to play well consistently for a small forward.

By the way level 3 is a great place to watch footy unfold. If you have any knowledge of Saints players you know who everyone is.
