In defence of Kosi !!
Got a couple of nice touches early and then got kneed in the head twice in a couple of minutes in ruck contests (more from his lack of awareness than anything else). After that he appeared to be not real sure of where he was or what he was, or was supposed to be doing. Let's hope he's OK !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Fact of the matter is.
If you're surname is Riewoldt, Goddard, Gilbert, Gram and many others, you can have quite a few quiet weeks in succession, weeks that are well shy of your best, and on the back of an solid preseason.
Which is fair enough, you give them time to turn it around.
Koschitzke?
Well a knee to the head to the point the question was asked of St Kilda in the presser if he was concussed, no preseason, and quiet game AFTER the knock.
...and they line up.

His form has been very very poor over many games for a long timeSainterK wrote:Fact of the matter is.

His game against Brisbane had St Kilda a little red they had bought him back so early.
His game against Carlton was actually very good.
Last week played his role, rucked, and gave himself opportunity in front of goal (something nobody else has really shown in that position)
I just don't think the supporter angst is consistent towards all the guys in our side, and some are belted more than others.

IMO Kosi is a very self-less player.
The team always comes first with Kosi, he regularly sacrifices his own game, and his body for the team and club.
I agree with the original post, I believe he was concussed after that knee he copped.
When Gardner comes back Kosi will be very handy in the ruck as our 2nd option.

Of course he was concussed, worry for this guy after footy actually.
If you liked his game or not, he still found himself in damaging positions up forward, pushed of the ball or unable to compete in a foot race, he still dragged an opposition defender with him.
Who brings more to compliment their skippers game?
That's an important component that can't be ignored, and I still think it's Kosi.
If he is dropped against Freo, I am perfectly happy to be proven wrong, but I reckon Ben won't allow Roo the kind of space and game he enjoyed yesterday.

Look yes...Kosi is a nice guy...generally tries hard....no doubt follows coaches instructions etc etc....
But over a long period of time he has simply been not good enough.
A lot of his game and value is built on his marking...and marks that he used to clunk he now struggles with.
And if he is not marking...then his ruckwork, ball skills, ground skills etc are not good enough to demand and earn a place.
This week in itself means nothing...just as for any player one game means nothing.
2009 Kosi was a very good second foil to Roo.
2010 he was ok-ish....
2011 he as been poor in the main.

The basic fact and biggest problem is that Kosi moves slower than anyone else in AFL footy at the moment.
He's a liability with only a 3 man bench.
If the AFL persist with this stupid 3 man bench next year he is finished IMO.

After reading this thread it's obvious some have their blinkers on where reality is concerned...Bernard Shakey wrote:There are never reasons, just excuses.SainterK wrote:Why?saintsRrising wrote:2011 he as been poor in the main.
Not like there isn't reasons.
He's been a dud for years and most people have finally accepted that fact.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Was it because I said he has had no preseason?bobmurray wrote:After reading this thread it's obvious some have their blinkers on where reality is concerned...Bernard Shakey wrote:There are never reasons, just excuses.SainterK wrote:Why?saintsRrising wrote:2011 he as been poor in the main.

Or because I said he copped a knock to the head?
Or because I said other guys were given time to find form?
Disagree with Kosi being in the side by all means, but nothing about what I said isn't reality Bob.

the ABC discussed Kosi after the game and they were concerned about where his games at as well......we all like him but he's not up to it....
as we always say, maybe next year he'll turn it around..maybe he and big Mac will come good at the same time....
maybe we'll draft someone who has "got it".

Kosi & Joey were the only players missing from the Auskick clinic in Frankston today. Joey had committments with Ch 7. My tip is that Kosi suffering from the knees to to the head (YES, plural knees to the head) !!

Let's attack someone else.
With the side struggling and its leaders struggling, Mr "2 goals a game average so he is a star" slow jogs onto the ground last, slow jogs thru the banner last, slow jogs behind everyone else bouncing his own ball and then enjoys himself having shots on goal.
Jagged 3 opportunistic goals in the first quarter, then went missing as the heat came on (again) - attracting opposition taunts for this at half time.
Did not "lift" as a response to this but contributed to opposition confidence by trying to take on the park resulting in half a dozen free kicks being given against him as he tried to duck thru tackles.
And you attack Koschitzke who jumped into the contest from the outset, getting his hands on the ball and winning and influencinmg possessions - then copped a heavy hit to the head, then another that put him down for the count followed shortly after by a third in a marking contest.
Spent frequent time on the bench resulting in Riewoldt, Fisher and Dawson (automaitc goals to Melbourne from Dawson who did not get near the ball) having to ruck but still put a perfect pass onto Schnieder's chest, jagging the kick sideways at the last moment when under extreme pressure.
And if you are relying on TV coverage to form an opinion - and relying on the comments of self serving, egotistical commentators - forget it.
Riewoldt and Koschitzke know exactly where they are positioning on the park - and Riewoldt takes preference.
Have a look at how they work together some time.

It doesn't matter how much effort people put into their posts trying to defend Kosi......He struggles with the game but Ross loves him and i'm sure he will keep picking him and i'm sure people will keep potting him for below par performances...you can't hang your hat on the few successes he has..
hang on a minute.......you just did

Were you not watching kosi's two games before this one? or were you not watching the finals last year?? Is it a coincidence that riewoldt always plays better with kosi in the team.
And with you saying all k's reasons were excuses,
look at all the examples this year, i.e cotchin who finally had a full preseason and is dominating. Kosi had a small preseason and was rushed way too early in my opinion, and had to miss a game after he injured his ancle again in the brisbane game.
what about 2009? do you think he was useless then, did he struggle with the game??
48 goals, and 11 brownlow votes. and its not like he was 'the target' in a successful team, riewoldt kicked 79 goals that year and kosi along with milne etc. were always second options.
i love how quickly some of you jump off some of our players, or as sainterk pointed out choose to ignore the bad form of our stars at times, but as soon as the wipping boys are out of form you guys attack them without giving them time to prove themselves...kosi has had 2 bad games. 1 against brisbane were he was rushed back and yesterday after two good games.
