Early days yet. Everyone but Kosi played well, so it is Mc Evoy for Kosi to start with.
Is Winmar injured or just sore?
Sippos is going to be a gun, but looked tired at close quarters today and may need a rest.
Of the others, Blake, Peake, Polo all should retain their places.
Will re-consider in a couple of days.

Winmar should be out - He's not ready. Twice he copped decent hits and lay flat on the ground like a corpse for the next minute. In the heat of a close game we can't afford to have a player who can't take a hit.
Kosi gets another shot as McEvoy's extreme lack of pace wouldn't do us much good at Subi. Blake performed well as the backup. Siposs didn't have much impact other than his assist and goal, but he's a player that needs to be given time an opportunities. Peake played well and will keep his spot. Gram should have to show that he's prepared to give 100% at Sandy before coming back. Hopefully either Johnson or Smith gets a gig for Winmar. Polo did enough to hold his spot and Steven had a breakthrough game as an inside mid rather than a defensive forward.
B: Gwilt, Dawson, Dempster
HB: Gilbert, Fisher, Goddard
C: Jones, Armitage, Peake
HF: Schneider, Riewoldt, Ray
F: Siposs, Johnson, Milne
Foll: Koschitzke, Dal Santo, Montagna
Int: Steven, Polo, Blake, Cripps
Emg: McEvoy, Smith, Clarke

I'm sure that Kosi would be even slower and less agile than Mac!!mad saint guy wrote:Winmar should be out - He's not ready. Twice he copped decent hits and lay flat on the ground like a corpse for the next minute. In the heat of a close game we can't afford to have a player who can't take a hit.

Thus, I would like to see Mac in for Kosi.
I'm not sure if Johnson is fit (to take Winmar's place if injured), but if he is not, maybe Alistair Smith gets another go.
The Saints are coming!
You wouldnt have a clue. Both those hits hurt his shoulder. Are you saying he is weak because I suppose that is easy from the cheap seats. Anyway he probably will miss this week through injury so you get your wish. And as for Ben being slower than Kosi, that I wouldnt know but Ben gives 100% at every contest and doesnt get knocked off the ball like Kosi so he will play. Whether Kosi does as well will be determined by the Blake report.mad saint guy wrote:Winmar should be out - He's not ready. Winmar is only 18, his first game, unless he is hurt, why should he be left out. its not as if the finals are coming up.mad saint guy wrote:Winmar should be out - He's not ready. I reckon McEvoy would beat Koz over 20, 30, 40 and 100 and probably quite easily.plugger66 wrote:You wouldnt have a clue. Both those hits hurt his shoulder. "The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Mate, how hard is it to look this stuff up on Footywire?saintly wrote:Winmar is only 18, his first game, unless he is hurt, why should he be left out. its not as if the finals are coming up.
He's already been on our list for a year, how could he be 18?
Winmar turned 20 on 27 April.

Not according to Ross apparently.borderbarry wrote:I dont think they will take Sipposs to W.A. at this stage. He probably did not do enougth today. Perhapd Gram may be better off after the break he has had.

"Siposs is doing enough and he competes well, while Cripps is kicking a few goals when he comes on."
Also talked up Tommy Ledger, gave Peake and Polo thumbs-up, and promised debuts for Walsh and Simpkin before season's end.

So you reckon Ben IN Kosi OUT?plugger66 wrote: Anyway he probably will miss this week through injury so you get your wish. Who would come in for Winmar? Surely NOT Gram - would like to see him prove himself in the two's first.
I'd like to see Winmar get another shot on the wide expanses of Subi. Play himself into some form and stay in the team. Fingers crossed the shoulder comes up.
Not so sure Kosi will be out but i dont think Blake, Kosi and Ben can play in the same side so one has to miss. Maybe Ben will miss again. I also hope Nick gets up this week. A home game on a big ground may suit him. If he is out Grammy may come back as we dont have a huge amount of natural runners in the seconds.Quixote wrote:So you reckon Ben IN Kosi OUT?plugger66 wrote: Anyway he probably will miss this week through injury so you get your wish. And no doubt Winmar would feel more relaxed with that first game out of the way, playing on a ground he knows and in front of family and friends.Quixote wrote:So you reckon Ben IN Kosi OUT?plugger66 wrote: Anyway he probably will miss this week through injury so you get your wish. From RL's comments I assume he'll go around again subject to any fitness issues.

This can get filed with your other theory about aboriginal footballers being specially suited to Brisbane.saintspremiers wrote:As much as Raphael has been bad this year, would sandy Subi suit him?
Aboriginal players tend lI've playing in Perth and are usually very effective, Raphael included.
Is Raph from Darwin? How many KM's is that from Subiaco?

I would also add that Gram (possibly playing sore the last couple) rested up comes back with his run on the big ground
Also McEvoy rested to run with Sandilands (obviously injured now) but that would have been the plan
I think there is some method to the rotations (like collingwood last year) and we are still working on the best 22
out Kosi and Winmar and maybe Sipos
