Shivers P66 Kosi has played what 2-3 games only, and seems to be getting better with each one - on the back of no real pre-seasonplugger66 wrote:Then why not drop Kosi. Not saying it is the case, but it concerned me.
By the way, I wouldn't have dropped McEvoy

Great move dropping McEvoy, obviously playing Blake is all about the future
and in the ruck FFS, what a complete waste of F****** time and space
FAIR DINKUM
absolute numbnut selection
and FFS give Lynch, Walsh and a few other kids a game
Good move dropping Gram, attempt a trade at the end of the year if anyone is stupid enough to take him

He was terrible last week. He is 28 and Ben is 21 and did a better job last week. I dont want either dropped but if we have to drop one it should have been Kosi and why the hell play Blake as his replacement. If it is a rest well that is different. I could bet Ben doesnt want a rest though.MCG-Unit wrote:Shivers P66 Kosi has played what 2-3 games only, and seems to be getting better with each one - on the back of no real pre-seasonplugger66 wrote:Then why not drop Kosi. but thats my point about being dropped, is there something that the coach doesnt like, as once again he is playing well only to be droppedQuixote wrote:As good as Mac has been good with his work around the ground and marking, and as much as we and no doubt the coaching staff respect and like him and see him as a 10 year player/future leader - fact is we have been getting SMASHED in the ruck and it's been hurting us badly. With the flow-on effect, we've essentially been playing at least half-a-man down most games.sunsaint wrote:surely without Jamar it was one area we could have an edgeSainterK wrote:Seems that way.Quixote wrote:Winmar playing.
Blake and Kosi to ruck.
Small team - going for extra midfield rotations?
Ruck is not proving to be significant strength for us anyhow, may as well approach?
mcevoy would have to be getting a bit sick of being dropped while playing good footy
Time to try something new.
Also - that would be one of the quickest Saints teams I've seen in quite a while.
as for getting smashed, well his stats are far better than kosi, who does not get the same rating system applied to him. I can see Blake getting assigned Jurrah & as first up assignment will find it tough.
It IS strange.

Not sure how Kosi is getting a game, he is bloody woeful and not the future, same for Blake. This would have been an ideal game to bring in Stanley to get some experience. I though NDS might get the chop- playing lazy. Anyway, a few experienced players need to prove if they're fairdinkum this week or just overpaid show ponies.
NDS has been our best player this year, equal with Chips. Very harsh.spert wrote:Not sure how Kosi is getting a game, he is bloody woeful and not the future, same for Blake. Maybe they're playing Blake as Melb only have Stefan Martin/Newton as rucks, and that he can match them.........Stanley may as well have come inplugger66 wrote:He was terrible last week. Yes perhaps McEvoy is being rested, but like you say, I'll bet he doesn't want one

kosi rucked better than mcevoy last week. blake is a better ruck atm than mcevoy.
maybe it's a rest, maybe mcevoy needs to get a bit of confidence by playing at sandy and actually beating an opponent - it must be killing his confidence getting smashed regardless of the opponent.
maybe ross wants a win this week above all other considerations.

very happy gram is out. That effort close to half time nearly made me spew up. mini goes as he gives nothing to this team at present. Suprised about macca but it puts an interesting spin on things....
This is the chance for kosi to make something of his career. Thought he was very good in the grand final but has really struggled to make a mark. Has also looked better in the ruck position. Give him the next 4 weeks at first ruck and if he makes a go of it then it's his for the rest of the season. If not then it's time topart company IMO which is sad.
Agree that this is the quickest side we have had in awhile but we need to start winning contests and hitting targets.

How many of the opposition's lead ruckmen have been BOG or near BOG against us in every game this year?
It just seems to me that the lead ruckman from the opposition side is guaranteed a BOG against us, and McEvoy who is our lead ruckman.
That said, I am peeved that Blake has been recalled.
His papers are well and truly marked as an AFL footballer.
Along with a few of our other senior players who go missing when they are required most.

Can I ask in what way kosi rucked better than Ben last week and if you really think Blake is better you should look at the 2 games he has helped him this year. And nothing wrong with wanting a win, we should be doing it every week.desertsaint wrote:kosi rucked better than mcevoy last week. blake is a better ruck atm than mcevoy.

and here's me thinking that in your eyes the coach could do no harm/wrong....maybe you should drop into the coach's box saturday arvo and show him your ruck stats...what's that you say..?...that would only back ross' decision to drop the big lumbering ox...???....no kidding....

Neither Blake or Peake fill me with excitement either, but I don't have a problem with their inclusion this week. 3 points I would make.Spinner wrote:Peake and Blake. Two names i did not want to see included...
Especially Peake.
1. You can't play all the kids at once.
2. Ross has a duty to the fans, and also to the players, to try to win each game of footy.
3. Few of us doubt that the current list will be significantly overhauled at the end of this year. It is imperative that Lyon has a good look at all the players and that includes guys such as Blake and Peake, notwithstanding we've already seen a lot of what they have to offer. Good performances at Sandy still need to be rewarded even if the players concerned are regarded by most as being "dead men walking".
There's plenty of kids in the side already and others will no doubt get their chance in coming weeks. Let's not get too worried about a couple of old geezers getting a recall.
