Milney perhaps??!SainterK wrote:Seems that way.Quixote wrote:Winmar playing.
Blake and Kosi to ruck.
Small team - going for extra midfield rotations?
Ruck is not proving to be significant strength for us anyhow, may as well approach?

He's bigger than Blake and is much, much taller than Brad Green.

mcevoy would have to be getting a bit sick of being dropped while playing good footy

Maybe the young boy simply needs a rest. He has been doing a lot of work this year, and since Melbourne have a very depleted ruck stock, what better time to give him one?longtimesaint wrote:I thought McEvoy had been one of our betterr players this season.
His marking around the ground will be missed unless Kosi finds something.

Maybe Ben is being rested. Don't Sandy have a bye this week?HSVKing wrote:Gram out. Good.
McEvoy out. Dumb!
Gram is out due to his inability to get the ball and kick it straight (Why isn't Gilbert following him?)
But dropping McEvoy who is our ruck future, why?
He's certainly had a fair bit of work to do so far.
Why do I have a feeling Gilbert may find himself in the midfield?HSVKing wrote:Gram out. Good.

We are desperate for some bigger bodies in there.
Peake has been the only guy who has actually done OK as a sub thus far, IMO.

As good as Mac has been good with his work around the ground and marking, and as much as we and no doubt the coaching staff respect and like him and see him as a 10 year player/future leader - fact is we have been getting SMASHED in the ruck and it's been hurting us badly. With the flow-on effect, we've essentially been playing at least half-a-man down most games.sunsaint wrote:surely without Jamar it was one area we could have an edgeSainterK wrote:Seems that way.Quixote wrote:Winmar playing.

Time to try something new.
Also - that would be one of the quickest Saints teams I've seen in quite a while.
Agree and would like to see him come on in the 2nd half again.SainterK wrote:Why do I have a feeling Gilbert may find himself in the midfield?HSVKing wrote:Gram out. Good.

Steven perhaps to come off for the rest.
Would like to see how Cripps goes over a whole game.
Ben is our number one ruck, and if we are to be honest about it he is struggling to ruck.plugger66 wrote:Then why not drop Kosi. He couldnt compete even more and he is older and struggling all over the ground.SainterK wrote:Maybe the fact he couldn't compete with Roughead concerned the coaches?
Not saying it is the case, but it concerned me.
I think that's a fair point without comparing him to anyone else?

Wow, very interesting. We should win this one.
Outs
Mc Evoy - ruckwork dreadful all year. Around -the -ground marking/efforts have been good. Sends a very strong message to him.
McQualter - called for by nearly every Saiints supporter.
Ins
Montagna - obvious in. We need him to play well.
Winmar - good to see.
Blake - lucky to be in - ruckwork assistance to Kosi.
Peake - I thought he deserved another run. Need the pace agaist Melb.
Others
Polo - deserved another game this week, especially with Bakes out.
Jones - lucky to in, as we don't need a tagger against Melb.
Smith & Heyne - unlucky not to get a run, but plenty of new blood in the team.

Kosi was our number one ruck last week. Now lets see. Blake has rucked this year and been smashed. Kosi has rucked this year and been smashed. Ben is younger and has at least broken even 2 or 3 times. Blake cannot take a mark up forward and Ben can. Silly move unless it is just a rest.SainterK wrote:Ben is our number one ruck, and if we are to be honest about it he is struggling to ruck.plugger66 wrote:Then why not drop Kosi. I must admit I am bemused that they have brought in Blake for Ben, rtaher than Stanley.
blae may well be the better "this week" selection...but we need to be focussing more on 2012.
Winmar is a 2012+ selection...but if Ben was to be out for whatever reason I would have preferred to have gotten another game into Stanley or Archer.

Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Ruckmen dont get clearances. The mids get them. How did we go in clearances when Blake lost nearly every hitout in the mid 2000's. Yes you sre right, we won them because our mids were in form.SainterK wrote:Based on what?plugger66 wrote:Kosi was our number one ruck last week. Now lets see. Gilbert looked ok when he went into the midfield, with Judd I think - and Peake made an impact both times as subSainterK wrote:Why do I have a feeling Gilbert may find himself in the midfield?HSVKing wrote:Gram out. Good.
