Recruiting has been the archilles heel in leading to our current position and is somethjing that Ross needs to address. Reality has now set in and Ross knows that he cannot "steal" another good effort with the cattle that he has. I am sure that we will see him change hia approach. :wink:
agree with most ofthis and almost everything said in this thread.

Flexibility in the game plan and recruiting have been big negatives in a mostly very good coaching career.

I believe we drafted well in the last draft andthe prrof will be in the pudding in the next draft. Like ross I will givehim a few goes to try and fix this.

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon: I'll go if team loses trust

* Bruce Matthews
* May 17, 2011 4:17PM

ST Kilda coach Ross Lyon will walk away if he believes he has lost the belief and trust of his players.

"If my senior players come to me and ask me to change or to not be here, they will have spoken. But that's not the case," Lyon said.

On whether he questioned his style as a contributing factor to the dismal start, he said: "I'm in a constant state of analysis. I'm fully committed to this playing group and my senior core.

"We've been through a lot together. Clearly, it's a rough patch."

Lyon's only admissions were the group could be mentally fatigued after a series of September near-misses and he may have been too patient waiting for some experienced players to turn around their form.

"It's exhausting being a top team in the AFL. Five prelims, three Grand Finals and, obviously, a lot of disappointments," Lyon said.

Ross is not the problem.

We all know he is a brilliant tactician with a firing disciplined list.
This slump will test his full skillset.

I've no doubt he is the best to lead us through this.

I'm still thinking we will have a better second half of the year..

I've said it before ....in my mind he has enough credits with this club to be given the chance to rebuild.

That's not exactly a big statement!
Our first half has been deplorable so it wouldn't take much to achieve that outcome.

Geelong should have ditched their coach in 2006 after narrow losses and injuries left the club in 10th position. Administrations should listen to the media and associated ratbag clamour.

But the real problems started about 3 feet North, and a little to the left, of that :wink:
