Skills Coach
Watcing the pre-game today, I saw a bit of a replay of RL's "On the Couch" interview, and he mentioned he doesn't coach skill errors.
I'm not sure if thats actually normal for an AFL coach, or who its up to within the St Kilda coaching staff to do this. But it seems like we are making alot of basic skill errors this season - simple marks being dropped, bad kicking (our efficiency is one of the worst in the league).
More of a mental thing, or is there actually a genuine skill gap now, especially with the coaching staff that departed at the end of last season?

Unbelievable how bad our skills are...they were never great but with our lack of run and movement they look 3 times worse...
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

Re: Here here
Granted skills are poor but these are made worse but the lack of team values to protect the ball carrier to provide some time for disposal to gain some confidence. Values should based based on team things like; establishing perceived pressure by hunting in packs, team talk, support the ball carrier as the Messiah, pressure on the ball at clearances and use the bloody corridor to move the ball quickly and offset the team's slow pace.WinnersOnly wrote:Unbelievable how bad our skills are...they were never great but with our lack of run and movement they look 3 times worse...
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

We got Paul Hudson from Collingwood and since then we have recruited Wheadon but to be fair it's difficult trying to turn a turd into polly waffle.....perfectionist wrote:I thought someone said that we got the skills coach from Collingwood. Must be using a different book or he's part of a 5th column.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
