BJ cost us the game aka "Princess Goddard"

Post: # 1072570Post saintspremiers »

Instead of blaming blundering Raph or Mini or several basic skill errors, I'd like to blame yet another way below par performance by one of our elite players.

BJ is easily capable of playing 30% more effectively/productively than he did Vs. The Blues week in week out.

Do that and we are a lot better than anything we've seen this year, Monday night included.

BJ and Roo, among others, have serious attitude problems at the moment.

Training last Thursday was the most positive I've seen the group for a couple of years. BJ only ran laps though, so may be an underlying injury, but I think it's between his ears, as it is with the captain.

Unlike you where there's clearly space for miles.

Did you come over from Adelaide for training? Or are you upset at being called a hero on another thread? If so, please grow up, and don't bother replying to this.

Your posts just keep getting more obscure... and by the way keep your lectures on posting for someone that gives a F*ck what you've got to say.

Really? What are they? I don't see an attitude problem with either of them. I see a footballer sadly out of form trying too hard to regain it.

I see another footballer out of form who worked his backside off on Monday night to make a contribution to his team and eventually get on top of his opponent. I actually thought that Roo showed as much leadership last night as I've ever seen him show. You find out about a person when the chips are down - they are down for him individually at the moment, and to me he looks like he's working his backside off to get back to the champ we know he is.

I thought Ross was very clear it was not bad attitude OTC, it was putting themselves under too much pressure.

They are trying too hard to win games of footy for us.

Not, not trying enough.

If there's a problem for BJ and Roo having "heartbreak syndrome" or whatever label the media are putting on it, and its just TOO hard to lift for games, I have a simple solution: adjust their salaries to reflect their performances! ie: Every clanger/free kick given away is docked from the wage. Every goal/assist/selfless act attracts more pay

Call it what you like, attitude was probably the wrong word, it's still between their ears.

zac would be in debt a fair bit if that idea happened.

Maybe they were trying to give BJ a "freshen up"

This is not meant to be a snide remark at all, just asking you Bernard, you seem to get to a lot of training sessions. How many would you get to a year generally?

It's great to see people on here being objective about the whole playing group.

BJ arguably has cost us more than one game this year on account of him producing below his standard and you could argue the same for Roo as well. Although in Roos case his skill errors are what have cost us and not his level of effort.

Anyone still want him captain..?

Or more specifically, anyone still want him captain instead of a 5 time b&f...?

Yes it is only round 8 but things clearly aren't clicking for him.

Does Ross just keep yelling at him to play better?

I'm talking about a mental freshen up rather than physical freshen up. And it's based on the pressures he seems to be putting on himself rather than how many games into the season we are. Maybe the club said we want to you skip the main training today and just do a bit of fitness work. Maybe they think that will help - nothing else has so far.

These are just thoughts mind you.

BJ is being tagged much more closely this year, which is having an impact. Add to this, too much intensity, trying too hard, carrying the weight of non-team performance on his head.

We know that BJ has the skills. As others have said, he needs to relax a bit more. I also think that his best position for us, is across the HB line. Perhaps team mates can block the tight tags for him a little more.

Chill out Goddard. Enjoy the game against the hawks.

That's all there is to it, enjoy it.

Yep.

Obviously it's not going to happen soon though.

He will captain, I hope it's at St Kilda.

Pretty much all open training sessions. Some closed ones, if I'm down that way.
