Tony said after the game that he wondered what all the commotion was and had looked around to see why.
The footage shows him looking around.
The reception that Hughes got coming off the ground straight in front of the Gold Pass balcony was unbelievable.
Had some mates from Adelaide as guests that day - and they wanted to know why I followed St Kilda and not Adelaide.
Did not have to answer!
Mind you, they got back at me in 1997!!
But to go to the footy and particularly in the Gold Pass Room with the balcony virtually over the top of the ground was unbelievable.
Gilbert McAdam was a player.

Remember it really well. Was 3/4 on the Annapurna Base camp at Nepal and listened to the game on short wave ( Grandstand- Radio Australia ) Might have been on top of the world but only wanted to be at Moorabbin at that moment!mcadam05 wrote:time flys i can remember it so clearly the crow's vist Moorabbin Lockett returns along Winmar ahhhhhhhhhhhh happy days indeed

Yeah, a couple of "hacks" like Nicky Winmar and Robert Harvey, getting the ball, sprinting away from their opponents and delivering it lace up, millimetre perfect. Not like the skill of the mids these days, who give Nick R such an armchair ride. That team could have gone all the way. We all know why it didn't and who was responsible.

4 Weeks + 50% loading for poor record = 6 weeks IMO.saint66au wrote:LMAO
How many weeks would he have got in 2011 for that shirtfront on Danny Hughes??
I loved the way Plugger tackled his opponents and treated them like rubbish

What a wonderful day. It was on my 15th birthday and I was in the CS. A photographer took a picture of the CS at one stage during the match which ended up being on the front cover of the book 'The Point of it All'. I was in the frame of the picture
For the first time in my life as a a St.Kilda supporter I could feel a real sense of optimism in that could was starting to be a finals threat. The week before was also blissful. Brian Wilson pumping his fist at the Melbourne Social Club hahaha... Great memories!

It was a great day. Lockett could have had 10 before half time if the ump had let him play on near the boundary just before half time. He made him go back and kick it again and it got smothered I think. That year was a great year. It was the 1st time I'd seen us win at Princes Park ( beat Hawthorn), 1st time I'd seen us in a final and Lockett was sensational including that final against Geelong. It was his best year.
