Interesting to listen to Caro on the insiders talking about the woes at Port Adelaide. She's saying that there are huge politics internally and that it revolves around a massive divide between the old players such as the Corne brothers and Brogan etc and the new kids coming up. She said the problem had been described as cancer and that Primus needs to take charge of it soon.
Sounds familiar to me and very similar to what Wakelin said a few weeks ago in his article that talked about the Pies successive defeats in 2002 and 2003.
Whether we like it or not the older players have to know that their opportunity has passed them by unless they leave then they will never be in a premiership team. At the moment those players are playing for themselves. They will still look ok on the stats sheet but they certainly have resigned the fact that our window is shut. Ross please please please be progressive and cut out the cancer sooner than later.

Yep. It stands to reason to. Imagine if you were a player in your prime and in the top 10 or so best AFL players and realising that you probably have missed your opportunity to win a premiership. And players like Roo and BJ will be able to make the stats sheet look good but essentially they will now be playing for themselves.HardSaint wrote:Reckon it's pretty glaring that both Roo and BJ are the most broken by the GF losses
The question is whether they can ever fully get it back together
The Challenge for Ross is to sell them the belief that they can still pinch one in the next couple of years. Massive task.

That's why Lenny is , was the only true leader.Johnny Member wrote:It's staggering to think that two of the biggest 'leaders' of the club would need to be convinced to give 100%.
They should be the ones convincing everyone else. That's why they're leaders for f***'s sake!
He would never need convincing.
Mentally fragile leaders cause problems.

I'll start. Goddard. Enough said. Goodnight
I will throw Gilbert in the mix and I will express an opinion with a pseudo-psychologist's hat on.
Over the last few weeks, watching the games on TV, I have been developing a theory about our demise. The theory involves three players. The two you mentioned: Roo and BJ and Gilbert.
Here is my theory:
1. Roo has never forgiven Gilbo. There is something simmering there eating away at both, but Gilbo in particular. These two in my opinion cannot be usefully engaged in the same team. Solution: Trade one out of the team long term, and in the short term the one awfully out of form to the Zebs
2. Given Roo's occupation with what ever and his limited display of leadership on-field,I think BJ feels entitled to take over the captaincy. He probably has support from the playing group. Solution: Make BJ captain. He will be one sooner than later anyway
Well this is my reading of the situation between these guys..........

Not so. Just searching for an explanation.

FACT: We are falling in a heap, all off field drama's mostly because of that slag KD and losing 2 premierships has finally taken its toll....
Yeah yeah I know my glass is half empty but I am not going to set myself up for heartache when I know we are absolutely no chance in 2011.
Time for Ross to get rid of the non believers at seasons end, blood the kids and set themselves up for 2012 and beyond.
Don't let it ruin your year, make sure you go and enjoy some time with your family's, cherish the moments with your kids / grand kids. !!!!

I disagree. The reality for Roo and BJ would be really reaching the deepest and darkest corners of their minds by now if it hadn't already done sooner and for so many reasons that don't need to be regurgitated. Surely our only chance of a premiership with Roo and BJ in the team will only come if some of the young brigade can come up within a year or two. Interesting time 2011 will be for so many reasons. The challenge for the club is not to revert to type and sack the coach and then start eating each other from the inside out.plugger66 wrote:Because it is crap.
