I went to the Gabba last night.
Ok, the blues won easily but the scoreline is very misleading. The umpiring was atrocious and gifted Carton 7 or 8 goals. The suns young blokes tried their guts out but made too many errors as was to be expected when 12 guys make their debut at once.
McKenna didn't opt to flood at all so it was a very open game. Carlton have a good team but were made to look better - they are a bottom 8 team, is all.
It was irrtiating to see that idiot Waite running around when he should've been suspended. He seems to think he is some elite gun forward and orders his team mates around, while he lopes along - pathetic.
Matera from the Suns is an instant Afl player - the guy was really good.
It was a great atmosphere and the suns fans really stuck with the team despite the horrible scoreboard.
Very warm night too, humid, with millions of bugs killing themselves in the lights!!!
I chatted to a few people - fans of different teams - about the sts now Lenny was gone. Some said we were gone and others thought we were still good enough to be up there.
Personally, i was devasted at first, like we all were/are - similiar to Roo last year. But after thinking about it, we are still a very good team and possibly the only team to challenge the maggots. Watched them on tv yesty - the north guys were weak, letting them do what they wanted. Why don't they smash guys like pendlebury and thomas when they have the ball? There was no hard pressure at all from the Roos.

The look on Eddie's face in that avatar is remarkably similar to the expression on my dog's face when the vet sticks a thermometer in her butt.satchmo wrote:I'm Rhys Muldoon, and so is my wife.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Carlton have had that many high draft picks that even Ratten should be able to win a couple of finals this year. If we don't go as high this year it won't be the greatest shock in the world. They are a defender away from being a very consistent team. We are looking a little battle weary and not quite on our game, we could be anything depending on how well we can find the motivation to go for broke.
