Nobody would want Kosi. If you talk of trading Kosi and a draft pick, you might as well just trade the draft pick.
I'm not saying we should trade McEvoy, I'm just saying he's one of the few players we could realistically trade for something worthwhile.
I agree we've done too much topping up, but last night showed that we might have done well to hang onto Patterson.

Sounds a bit radical, but Roo and BJ should have really lifted their games once Lenny went down, (looks like Lenny was our real leader on-field), but they have played more like GOPs. As coach, I would want to see my experienced players showing leadership by example to the rest of the team, and no one is standing up, so it must be pretty hard for the less experienced guys coming into the team.St Ick wrote:Roo and BJ? On the leadership front, Roo and BJ are disappointing me hugely.

Riewoldt won't be going anywhere, at 28, what we'd be offered for him would not come close to the price we would be prepared to trade him for.joffaboy wrote:I am looking at value for trade in context with the OP question.meher baba wrote:So you guys are basically saying that we should trade one of the best players in the comp because our coaching staff can't work out a sensible way of using him and/or we don't have enough other dangerous forward targets to support him.
Thank goodness none of you (AFAIK) run the club...
Roo is the only one with real currency, followed by bj, then possibly Dal and maybe Sam Fisher.
This said what you trade and what you accept is all dependent on when you expect the group to contend again. If you are trading for 1-3 years the Goddards etc aren't on the table because they are required for our reascent but if you are talking 5+ and to do it with kids maybe a few "not for trade" players become tradeable.
I'm glad I'm not the one that has to make the decision.

Trade Roo at 28 yet some say we will be much better when Lenny comes back. Are they serious? Hayes will be 32 then and coming back from such a serious knee operation. He has been superb as we all know but he is not Superman. Kosi should go and with him Gardiner who must be nearly 31 now and always injured. Before anyone says Fletcher is 36, remember he has been playing as a loose man on the back line for the last 5 years.
If Roo did the same he could play until he was 40. Hayes body is always on the line the way he goes in hard regardless of injury, the same as our captain does every week with 2 or 3 on him.

We need to keep our early draft picks, whichj we will get a significantly earlier one this year than in previous.
If we can attract some decent players via free agency, then we can unload some of the deadwood to make room in our salary cap.
It's a good bet both Baker and Blake will retire at the end of the season, if not earlier.
What we really need to trade is our old game plan for something completely new that makes the press totally obosolete.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

roo and gilbo our only real trade bait.
Id trade one of them for a high pick.
You wouldnt get much for Gilbert.
Dal Santo or Montagna you would.
Milne and Schneider nothing.
Sam Fisher will be 29?
You just wouldnt Roo or BJ unless BJ is thinking of leaving when he is a free agent.

With this trade, you lose Armitage, an in & under mid just getting established for a kid you hope will be.........an established in & under mid sooner rather than later. What would be the point ?joffaboy wrote:
Now this wont happen I dont think so realistically it would be Armo. We get Lenny back next season, and with the trade pick (or picks) we get the best in and under mid we can draft.
And Hayes will be 32 coming off a knee reconstruction

We have so little to offer.
BJ, Dal, Joey?
Clubs would offer a first rounder plus players for BJ.
Kosi has absolutely no currency. None. Nada.
Roo is past his real trade value age.
You would get a second rounder for Mac but no more.
Armitage might pull a second rounder. We might lose him for nothing anyway.
Gilbert has already packed his bags I think. Will go for nothing.
Our third tier are worth nothing on the market.
We have no trade options IMO.
Plus, how good does Wellingham and pick 30 look about now?

Armitage fourth rounder.
I think Kozi still has 'some' trade value. Especially to a club like GWS who has a bunch of kids. Capable 200cm players don't grow on trees.
Anyway, just my opinion on him, Roo and BJ may not be starring on the field at the moment (who is) but suggesting to trade them is amazing. I just hope we don't lose any more names for nothing at the end of the year.
