Two best players...

Their body language has been a disgrace this year...

Nick constantly has his head down, and goddard has the look of an individual..

I have never questioned either...ever before....

Two of three champions we have

Not good enough in 2011

They are trying to come to grips with the fact we are gone and it'll be some time before we are there again.....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

And no Lenny is the killer blow for leadership.

I will admit it's surprising to see Riewoldt capitulate so utterly and completely this year.

He's working as a decoy forward.

Yes obviously, there are also problems with ball movement and having 3 players on him all the time as well....

Well said.

So often we use the bottom 6 as scapegoats but seriously these so-called "elite" senior players have shown no leadership and worse still been patheticon field.

Nick Riewoldt simply doesnt kick the goals that count nor take enough grabs. Watch Tippettfor them tonight and sure they delivered it better but he still competed and managed to take contested grabs. Riewoldt unless its lace out on the lead is virtually decoy.

Goddards to busy giving orders instead of getting a kick. Was a fumbling mess tonight - on of the worst games Ive seen him play.

No leadership from both tonight.

David armitage, clint jones and dal provided the leadership...

Second half milne......

Sam fisher was also very composed.....

But it was armo who put his head down and got to work

Coming to grips that we are gone. I don't understand this.
We come off two, repeat two grand finals and all of a sudden our two best players (IMO) think we are f***ed. Bull s***.
We are gone simply because we haven't had any sort of second wave coming through the ranks.
The coach has seen fit to focus our future into a two year defensive window and guess what. IT DIDN'T WORK.
Don't vent your anger on the players, go for the coach. He has taken any flair, any offensive intuition from all players and when s*** comes to fruition this is what we get. Not a lot of anything.
Ross Lyon RIP. At least we should be scoring reasonable scores given the skill we have at the club.
Things are very, very sad.

Both gave us NOTHING tonight.

In fact our forward line looked much better without Riewoldt.

Mate txt me at half time and my reply was that this game was bloody hard to watch, and it's hard to be critical of our snr players b/c they've been so good for us over the last few years, but the snr players were appalling tonight.

Riewoldt,
BJ
Joey,

Lenny not playing obviously

WE're not going to win ANY games unless these 3 guys can find some form.

Of course Smith and Cripps made some mistakes, but Cripps kicked two valuable goals in his first games - Smith I'm unsure about. Needs to learn how to kick.

Gonna be a long year I'm afraid

Get Riewoldt out of the F50 as he is just a waste down there atm getting 3 manned and having no impact at all... On the wing Richo style imo and let him loose...

Can't agree more here. Rooey was at his best with Gherig planted at FF and he was able to run around on a wing or lead right up the ground. Playing him out of FF doesn't work

Agree.
Because he is yet another that chokes in front of goal.

Was played as a CHF last week and did better. Yet this week?

He's a CHF NOT a FF.

Ross knows this surely?

Maybe we could have traded the captain to the Gold Coast for a couple of first round draft picks.
Looks a good option now.

We could have surely gotten picks 2 and 3 for him. Sam Day, who could be every bit as good as Nick has been (or better) with one of them and Harley Bennell with the other one.
And maybe another high draft pick for someone else and we could have been a show again in 3-4 years.
Now it looks like it could be years before we're a genuine shot again.

Too many people have spent the night smoking the weed. Can't believe what I'm reading. 4 games out of 5 outdoors showing up our poor skills and game plan. #12 should be out of the square and RL needs to drop the mark/stop/chip plan and go the way of 2011 and run/run/run. Those that can't kick, I'll help pack their suitcases.

Roo and BJ are clearly still affected by 09/10 GF losses, as are others.

You may be great players but my message to both players is:

"Get back on the bike, re focus and ride harder than ever before."

If you can't or are not able to do than then make way for others who are prepared to give this level of effort.

45,000 Members don't give up their hard earned to watch their team slowly and painfully waste away...

Our best player is put for the season. 3rd in the Brownlow in 2009 and 6th last year. By far our best player.

wow what do these guys have to be "devastated" about

theyre highly paid professionals that get to do what they love day in day out

they dont have to worry about debt repayments, mortgages, where the next pay check is going to come from

they get to hang out with their mates... date who ever they want...

like the article... nixon owes riewoldt $120 000... take me 10 years to have that srta cash laying around... yet its just handed over like nothing

honestly our leadship group have to get it together because its guys like

fisher, armitage, jones, even steven and cripps that are keeping us in any of the games this year

BB, In addition to being our best player #7 was the only player this year who MOVED ON from last year.

Our greatest loss this year is not his football ability but his onfield leadership.

We don't have any onfield leaders at the moment...

+1

I'm going to write a letter to Lenny telling him how he is an inspiration to us all and how he can be an even bigger hero by getting the boys' heads in the right spot
