Tom Walsh
Time to give him a good go now.
Has done enough apprenticeship.
Has size, skill, athleticism, endeavour and guts. He has performed at the top level in the Irish game and can clearly rise to a big occasion.
Will make mistakes but will also learn more when playing at the top level and faster.
As has been said before, he may be able to free up some other guys for more attacking roles in defence
or,
he may be another mobile tall to provide structure down forward.
We have little to lose now IMO(apart from some $) by trying him now

He will debut later in the year in a home game we don't expect to lose (or don't care if lose: eg, because we are out of the running), against an opposing team where he has a clear matchup.
The game against the Crows doesn't seem to fulfil any of these criteria to me. What if he came in and had a day like Zac on Rocca a few years back and we lost the game? What would that do for him or us?
That's why not...

100% agree, needs to go immediately!!!Elvis wrote:out GRAM

anyone who doesn't constantly turn the ball over by putting huge pressure on teammates with sloppy disposal. So sick of his looping handballs and kicks where team mates have to wait half an hour underneath the ball. His goals masked a terrible game. Dished it straight to Power at a crucial time, kept looking at the bench to come off, poor body language, turned it over three times in a row and simply CANNOT LAY A DECENT TACKLE. I'd prefer Blake, Raph... even Lenny on crutches would tackle better than a supposedly 'fit' Grammy.

The same argument you use for Gram goes for Gilbert.BigMart wrote:4 outs i would make.......ross will make 1....

At the ground (not TV) Gilbert ran up and down all night, providing vital options and line breaking on occasion sadly lacking right now.
His kicking is shocking at times, but his marking came good by the end of the game.
The ONLY way he redevelops his confidence is i the 1's IMO.
We need both him and Gram.
How about Roo holds some marks, BJ lifts, Dal gets a kick, and Fisher stops kicking it OOB or to an opposition player.
We are not playing as a team and look mentally shot to me.
We rely on our star players and when they are down (as they are) we look ordinary.

I actually thought Gram helped turn the game with a couple of goals.
As for Gilbert, well he's out of form but we can't afford to be dropping players of his ability. Can't fault his effort. Seems as if he's trying too hard.

Just about everyone seems to agree that Rhys Stanley is surplus to requirements, but about 15 names have been put forward for who should replace him!
If Will Johnson isn't fit then hopefully they'll send Gilbert forward again, so maybe someone will be brought in to play down back. I wouldn't have any problem with Blake coming back in to play down there, freeing up Gwilt to play on someone closer to his size, or as others have suggested, we could unleash the Tommy Gun. Now may be as good a time as any, as he could play on McKernan, or be tried forward. He wouldn't do much less up there than Stanley and may do a fair bit more and especially give us a great contest.

Think people are pretty spot on here, the only change will be Stanley for either Johnson, Winmar or Blake.
Gram wont get dropped, especially seeing he kicked two big goals and really should have had a third in the final quarter.
If they are worried about Tippet, then Blake may get re called, if speed, Winmar, try another third forward, Johnson.
I still think the brains would still be worried by a lack of pace and scoring power.
We haven't kicked 100+ points yet this season and put real scoreboard pressure on the opposition.

We either add a tall up forward and have a shoot out, or add another down back. Adelaide used the tall forward line against Carlton and nearly stole the game. Last two years this wouldn't have been an issue as our help defence was so good, but as we saw against Brisbane, one out the shorter defender will get soundly beaten.
It's either replace Stanley with another forward n back our boys to score more, or add a defender to try negate their tall forward line.
Walker is the only one of their forwards good enough to do any damage if we add a defender I feel. If we can get the right match ups on Tippett (only asset is strength) and McKernan (still learning, apply pressure and he is a liability) we'll be fine. We don't have to play tall to kick goals with Milne, Schneider, Gram, Steven.
For me it's a defender, Blake, Raph, Tommy, whoever is best suited. If we get these three match ups right Adelaide should struggle to score on us.
