Goddard to Gold Coast? !!
Someone rang the 3AW rumour file this morning stating that BJ is off to the Gold Coast next year.
My 1st thoughts when I heard this was;
Is next years fixture out already? and
Which Round are we going up there next year?
!!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: Goddard to Gold Coast? !!
I think you have it completely wrong. In October next year there is a golf tournament that he is playing at Robina. We dont play footy at the GC next year. I have the draw already.Eastern wrote:Someone rang the 3AW rumour file this morning stating that BJ is off to the Gold Coast next year.

Not possible
What is there cap??.
20 million
They have paid over the odds for
Ablett, bock, harbrow, brown, brennan, rischitelli, krakour....there is 5 million....plus fraser, harris, stanley.....
Then in two years resign
Swallow, bennell, smith, toy, matera, prestia, weller, dixon, gorringe
At least six of those are potential a-graders
Plus they need to pay another dozen
Goddard would be another 1.5 million

Pretty sure that Swallow and couple others have already signed long term contracts. Also isnt there the issue that Goddard is signed with us until end next season??BigMart wrote:Not possible

I'd say GWS is more realistic, if he's going anywhere at all, they'll be doing "under the table" deals alot more this year than Gold Coast. I'm not to sure about the trading rules this year but can the Suns still do hidden deals that don't get announced until the end of the year? I would have assumed you could only do that when you're setting up.
UP THE SAINTERS!

As stkildathunda mentioned, signed until the end of 2012.west57 wrote:What is Goddard's contract status?
I dont think that makes much difference, if GWS or Gold Coast want him, and he wants to go, the AFL will make sure it happen.
We will probably get reasonable compensation (maybe top 5 pick), but contracts mean very little when push comes to shove. If he decides he doesn't want to be at the club, there's no point making him stay. They'll just stay for 12 months, play rubbish football cause their heart isn't in it, and then walk out and we'll get much less for him.
Having said that, I don't think he will go anywhere. Everyone can see he's a bit cranky at the moment, but he's probably got 20 mates who are exactly the same. I have faith that we'll turn this around. . . .

You wouldn't think 3AW would KNOW that off the cuff?
They are JOURNALISTS are they not?
Why on earth should we be compelled to answer to such tripe?

I tell you what it wouldnt surprise me one bit if BJ packed his bags and left, it seems to me he has the world on his shoulders at st kilda and that pressure turns into frustaration with BJ who is a very emotional bloke, i hope its not true as he is my favourite player ever since Gehrig retired but its taking the easy way out of it, if he does leave.
