Pity Sipposs didn't get a few on the scorecard. A player with his sort of kick and knack for goals would've been a great replacement for Gamble next round. Who cares how young he is.

Great to see Will Johnson appears to be reveling in his switch up forward though, surely he must be rewarded soon.

Mini and Eddy in the best! Our problems solved
I'd play Mini before a few others in today's team...certainly not afraid to put his head over the ball and can lay a tackle. Maybe a good replacement for Jones or Dumpster...

Koschitzke, who has had an ankle injury, played sparingly up forward and in the ruck, netting 18 hit-outs and 19 disposals.

Advertisement: Story continues below He kicked an important goal in the final term to give the Zebras some breathing space with Andrew McQualter kicking the sealer.

Sandringham general manager John Mennie said he was happy with Koschitzke's output in the team's second win from two games that put it third behind Northern Bullants and Port Melbourne.

"Koschitzke clearly had more effect on the game," Mennie said. "He took three strong grabs in the last quarter and contributed 1.2 to take a five point lead out to a 13-point lead when we needed it most."

Koschitzke is likely to play for the Zebras this week while the Saints have the bye.

Sandringham coach Brett Lovett said he was impressed with Will Johnson, who snared four goals.

without seeing the game, pretty good to see ferguson named in the best. that was his first senior vfl game, after two vfl reserves games. the kid's 18 and a half, 194cm and quick by reports. he could be key to our next flag assault in 2018.

I'm with you there bergholt

Whether it's a guy from Ireland or a kid on a NSW scholarship the Saints desparately need to find something special from outside the normal drafting process. Hopefully both.

Go Tommy and Jackson :D

Club reports
SENIORS
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Michael Lowrey’s desperate tackle resulted in a great team goal set the example for the forwards as Johnson, Heyne, and Koschitzke made it very hard for the Dolphin defenders to exit our forward line.

We missed so many chances as the wind continued to make things difficult. McQualter and Eddy’s experience were prominent in setting up the lead. We had restricted the opposition to just one goal and had now set up a 20-point lead.

The final quarter did not go as planned game after such a strong display 30 mins earlier. Halfway through this term the dolphins run the ball forward far too easily and reduced the margin to 5 points with 2 quick goals.

Perhaps thoughts of last week win over Coburg resonated in the players minds. The midfield concentrated its forces and won important clearances. The Zebras would not let this game slip out of its control.

Kosi plucked a hanger and goaled from outside 50, McQualter’s final goal put out the spot fire, to the relief of all.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

RESERVES
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
Some of the better individual efforts were Matt Boland up forward booting 8 majors for the day, young gun Tommy Curren with 28 disposals and 3 goals was simply outstanding in the midfield and across Half Forward, Andrew Fleming (captain for the day) again displayed great leadership with his workrate and attack on the ball finding the footy 25 times for the day, whilst Keifer Smith-Cameron (26 touches), Chris Waller (26 touches) and Warwick Andreoli (24 touches) also gave us plenty of drive through the Half Back/Midfield part of the ground. Sam Crocker showed us why he is so highly rated amongst the St Kilda coaching staff turning in a 28 possession game that included a monster 70 metre goal out of the centre in the last quarter. His delivery into the forward line went a long way to giving our forwards the opportunities they needed to put a winning score on the board.

Koschitzke, who played 75 per cent of game time, is expected to line up once more in the VFL before returning to the AFL in Round 5.

Youngsters Will Johnson and Tom Lynch starred for the second week in a row.

Lynch continues to blossom across half-back, with his pinpoint passing setting up a flurry of attacks.

Under direction from Lyon to improve his defensive game, the 20-year-old was keen to check his tackle count after the match.

He finished with 27 touches and 10 marks.

Johnson booted 4.0 and set the Zebras alight in the third term with three majors.

The news from Sandy 2nds is as important in the long term as that from Sandy Seniors. We might have a good one in Curran.

Good to see Johnson and Lynch backing up their performances from last week and showing some consistency. Another good game from both of them next week and they'll probably see themselves in the seniors.

all of these are good to hear. i have no idea if any of them are going to make it, but it's pretty important to dominate vfl reserves if you want to ever have half a chance of getting to afl level.

Best news about this is that our more experienced guys put their hand up for games by actually performing in the 2's eg McQ, Kosi, Eddy, the younger guys kept doing well Willy J, Lynch and our hopes for the future Crocker, Curren etc all seem to have some actual football talent not just "athletes" or role players who don't actually contribute.
Nice to hear some forward line pressure from Heyne too cos there was precious little at Wevebeenhad stadium yesterday!!!

LATE goals by St Kilda players Justin Koschitzke and Andrew McQualter thwarted Frankston’s gallant bid for victory against Sandringham in VFL round two on Sunday.

Sandy’s 19-point win also gave their coach Brett Lovett a winning return to Kars St, where he earned so much respect during a six-year stint as Frankston coach.

Sensing an opportunity, the Dolphins got within five points of the Zebras with six minutes to go, and a boilover loomed.

But a 55m set shot goal by Koschitzke and then McQualter’s major, after a 50m penalty, left the Dolphs with an 18-game losing streak.

Coach Simon Goosey scoffed at suggestions it was a good effort by his team.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Frankston more than matched it with Sandringham throughout the game.

A brilliant goal by Clinton Proctor, into a tricky breeze at the bay end, gave the Dolphins a nine-point lead in the second quarter.

St Kilda big man Danny Archer took a screamer in the second term, but Frankston led by four points at half-time.

My understanding is the conditions were a definite leveller.

Still, it's not for the first time this year the second stringers have been spoken of highly.

Different story last year. I'm glad.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
