He comes from the Roos school of rebuilding, don't expect bottom outs just reload, as any team with our core should. You don't stay up for ever.

Got that right.

A decade of shyte footy...I mean really shyte footy separates the men from the boys.

We will never have a decade like the 80's again. ever.

I think we have reached the bottom. Season gone...really little hope for at least 5-6 years at best but more realistically 10 years before we can have another crack.

Clean out the cupboard and rebuild?
eg Sell Goddard et al to GWS and rebuild? And is Ross the right coach for a rebuild?
Realism... not in abundance around here, good post Taz.
Realism? Geez...that's drawing a long bow. So...you would have advised Collingwood to offload Swan for some unknown teenagers in 2009? Very dangerous policy.
I agreed with most of his post, mainly the highlighted
Thankyou for clarifying...I was worried you'd lost your mind Firey. I'm not sure this is the end of the season though...it's R3.

Can you seriously see us beating the Skunks ?
We have lost probably the best player in the comp but even he wouldn't be able to save us.
Tonights game was the telling sign that our window has closed R3 or not.
I picked the Bombers by more than 30 points.... the writing was on the wall :(
I wish I wrong, I wish I could find even the smallest amount of optimism...we are Gorn.

No, but I couldn't see Collingwood making the top 4 this time last year either...mind you, they weren't as bad as we are now.

Definately Goddard is out of the equation! Future Saints captain there! I would have thought after last season he deserved a crack this year to be honest. No more coach changes for the Saints, Ross Lyon stays!

Tonight was atrocious! The Saints needed to get a win against the Bombers and to be honest tonight wasn't the night to try experimental changes (as refreshing as it was to see at times)

I'm glad we've got the bye next week. We have some serious issues to address. The loss of Hayes is of major significance and not to be underestimated, but now is the time to analyze, and get the season on some sort of track by Round 5. Horror run!

And suddenly the train had left the station, just like that. We were centimetres from the doorway, but we just couldn't find a way in. Perhaps if we had been luckier, and the train had stopped closer to where we had been standing, we might be on that train right now. But we are not. And now we are left waiting at the station, not knowing when the next train will arrive...

Would be handy cover for one L Hayes though.
Armo isn't... and may never be up to it.

Imagine if we lost another midfielder??

Who is the next cab off the rank?

Geary?

yikes. This is why we played so many injured players in GF2- that 2nd tier isn't a step, its a cliff.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.

I noticed on the tram last night that every Saints fan looked traumatised. Blank looks, emotionally shot, walking wounded.

This was on the way to the game.

Were you around in the 80's?

Or when Tim Watson was coach?

Or when Blight got sacked?

Plenty of times far MORE pessimistic about our future than now ...[/quote]I

I go back further than the 80's and I can certainly agree there were worse times than this.

I hope young Saints supporters arent feeling we have hit the bottom.

Anyone that can remember from the Mid 80s to the early 90s will know what rock bottom feels like, especially the entire 80s.

Lowest point for me was in about 1995 or 96 when we played the Dees out at Waverley, I couldn't get anyone to come with me. Went without a jacket or umbrella, rained, couldn't get under cover and sat until the end watching us get smashed. Couldn't see us being anything for a very long time at that point.

I was low at the end of 2011.
But I think we are on the right path now. Lets stick fat!
