What the hell was that song before the game?
Who let some blonde idiot who surely knows nothing about footy butcher our proud song before the start? Disgraceful

We said the same thing.
After the tigers anthem we were ready to hear ours and sing and clap along as the boys ran out and instead here was this insipid rendition from Paris Wells. Hardly an inspirational start for the boys.
I actually quite enjoyed her singing before the game, but leave our song alone.
ps) how come I could hear her loud and clear but couldn't hear a siren????

Shattered dreams are just opportunities for improvement. Live and learn, fail and try harder. 2011 beckons.

Yes we thought the same thing. Couldn't hear a siren all night. How can that happen at a elite stadium like the MCGSaintDebi wrote:We said the same thing.

Agree with all that. I liked some of the earlier stuff, but the Saints song was "cringeworthy" and I had a bad feeling about the game after hearing that.SaintDebi wrote:We said the same thing.

And to not be able to hear the siren at the end of a game like that is very poor, to say the least. We didn't realise it was over till a few seconds after it went.

Wasn't great then, and at least it wasn't instead of the official recording when we ran outMr Magic wrote:I wasn't in the ground yet and so didn't hear it,
But
wasn't it exactly the same as when she sang it before GF1?
Nobody seemed to have a problem with it then?

So her name is Paris Wells.
But who the hell is she?
What gives her the right to butcher our song like that.
Shouldn't she have to pass some sort of audition first?

The song can be sung in the jazz way (which is ours) or gospel as demonstrated by the wonderful Aaron neville here (jroberts:) wrote:I was really quite dissapointed! she didn't even sing it with the right tune!
I though she was great , sang it with passion
It was good to hear something different apart from the same old thing that has been played for the last xxx years.
You know sometimes a little change can be a good thing
