Flag or Bust
The 2011 Season is finally here, 2 years of mediocrity and a disgraceful and embrassing finish to last season will never be forgotton. The pain will never go away.
But its time to start a fresh, through we will never and should never forgot the pain from the past 2 seasons. We, as supporters, should not accept another second place finish. If we are, once again, a top 4 finish by the end 2011 AFL Home and Away Season, anything less should be considered a failure. We should not accept mediocrity. Yet, Saints fans, for some reason do, they accept mediocrity and its a disgrace.

Re: Flag or Bust
This is poor especially coming from a supporter who follows a club that has not experienced much success over the years. The club and the players have given it their all over the past 2 years and to call that mediocre is poor form. Recognize accomplishments when they've been made.supercoach wrote:The 2011 Season is finally here, 2 years of mediocrity and a disgraceful and embrassing finish to last season will never be forgotton. If he followed the Tiges he'd probably be pumped about the improvement shown last year

If we don't win a flag the players should be taken out Columbian style.
Maybe we should voice our displeasure by dropping a truck load of s*** on linen house oval and burning our memberships.
Seriously, if they get to another GF it is a huge achievement, after we lost Sam Fisher early last season then Roo went down, Raph and Gram, my positivity started to waver. I thought we would struggle, add to that in game 2 of the GF replay we had guys like Dal and Gram looking like they should be on crutches.
The pies had a great run with injuries to key players and now have cut their depth. They may feel the same as we did last year if a couple of more go down.
Long season with a lot needing to go right. I'm just glad we are in the hunt.

Yep, we did well just to make the GF and then to be competitive was a bonus (thanks to Collingwood's shocking kicking for goal!).gringo wrote:If we don't win a flag the players should be taken out Columbian style.

All we needed was a different rule that allowed extra time and who knows???

Maybe we should be happy with 2nd ?
In a lot of ways we have overachieved .. we have a very good backline, a reasonably good midfield and a mediocre forward line, especially in finals - too reliant on Riewoldt. We don't have a tap ruckman of any note, plus we lack pace overall.
Our overall skill levels are mediocre, even compared to bottom 8 sides .. especially by foot.
Our team balance is not right, especially come the finals when we play too many smalls ... Schneider, Milne, McQualter .. most teams would only bring one genuine small maybe into finals... unless they are lightning quick or super strong.
I hope we can overachieve again this year.
