We got Montagna's jumper for fifty and he signed it as well. I think that was a bargain.

My advice is to put this in writing to the club.
There are some good people there (maybe membership dept excluded!!!!!) and I have heard plenty of examples where they have gone to a lot of trouble for fans with special requests.
I reckon there is a fair chance they will arrange for Roey to sign it for you.

Of course the easiest way to get something signed is to go to an open training session.
Usually very few people there (as opposed to Family Day), and afterwards players will sign stuff for fans gathered at the fence.
Cheers Mate will do.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

All depends on your perspective - they should take out the word "Family" unless of course that means for kids aged 10 and over, in which case it was fine.

PJ wrote:My mother and father travelled for an hour then lined up for 1 1/2 hours to get Roo's autograph on their grandson's jumper. When they were about to go up Roo got up and walked off - no autograph, see ya later.

I'll have to tell him some excuse but he'll be pretty disappointed. We live in Adelaide and there's plenty of pressure put on him by his mates to support the crows - hope this doesn't start the rot.
'
missed the call but apparently the same happens at all clubs- Essendon fan complained on radio about something...

as often happnes you need to know what the go is- before going along-- the queue for Roo's signature ( obviusly fans hold nothing against him for summer shenanigans-) was across the oval within minutes of the gates being opened figurativley-and the players were not going to be there for an hour as they conducted the clinics.

it takes some co-ordination and decision making- who'se signature do you want most..
there is no way they can get to everyone- and in one aspect it's actualy a good sign

So many fans and members did take the time. the crowd ws great-- and means the club is growing- even if slowly.

I'd repeat as others have said- send a message to the club and make a request. can't hurt and Roos needs to know he is still wanted and admired.

The size of the crowd at any club's family day has a lot to do with weather conditions and what else is on that day IMO.

I didn't bother this year either. Not like I need any more Saints gear (in fact the club still owes me from the jumper lotto at the season opener) and it'd be too hot and crowded and overall too much hassle.

I went, arrived just after one with the young 'un. She is seven so old enough to be a supporter not just a jumper wearer. When we heard that the jumpers were not being handed out until after three and there was not really anything happening until then I decided not to wait around. I stayed for about an hour bought a T-shirt for my daughter and some cuff-links for myself. If they plan to do these sorts of family functions they should let the fans know a rough itinerary before hand as had I known the jumper hand-out wasn't until three I would not have got there until about two-thirty.
We tried lining up for my daughter to get an autograph but after queuing for about half an hour and not making any significant dent in the queue we gave up. All in all a bit disappointing.
Also not having the caps for pick up is kind of pathetic as they know exactly how many they need as the social club numbers have been finalised for quite some time.
I understand the club is moving into a more professional and less supporter orientated fame of mind but if they are to do that they need to be supremely efficient with how they handle their administration. At the moment they appear to be as organised as a corner shop while treating it's customers like a huge multi-national.

Couldnt agree more.

Look, its hard getting everyone to see N Riewoldt - just impossible BUT there are 40 odd players on the list and its time this thing had a revamp. BEFORE You ask...yes Ive emailed the club and got the obligatory "we know its very difficult with a growing supporter base etc etc"

Surely its not impossible to have someone arrange some sort of clinics for say kids 13 and under? (if you are over that line up). Sydney do it and apparently it works well.

Also, why not make some cash while interracting with fans? - those who want to pay say...$40 to sit in and listen to a pre game drill from an assistant...or even better Ross.....(but lest say assistant for simplicity)...make this available in an auditorium/other section of the ground? (Id pay).

Im sure there are other ideas but you get the idea -lets get some imagination into the thing.

I just get the feel the club KNOWS it now has the members and then uses this as an excuse to simply maintain the status quo without any real attempt at delivering improvements for members. Such a shame.
