He will attract crowds to Casey (assuming he doesn't delist himself first).
But he won't do anything to help their player development.

At least Sandy didn't pick him up.
He is basically another Spider Everett but with a gambling problem.

after watching the footy show clearly his problems are alot worse than what the majority of people thought.
hope for his sake that the guy does adhere to the professional help given, have a good run at Casey and gets his life back on track.
making it back to the AFL is a matter of wait and see... but is not looking promising.

Interesting that the deal with Casey also allows him to play to play 2 games at beaconsfield. Does Aussie still coach them?

I think surely yesterday he learnt his lesson. Now that he's hit rock bottom we should recruit him as our kicking coach. We would only have to pay him a basic wage. He would be fantastic for players like Roo that have kicking issues.

Fev was one of the best shots at goal (especially from a set shot) in the modern game.
Great idea, Cairnsman

Could actually see Carlton giving him a rookie spot or something in 2012, imagine the good PR that would be generated by Carlton extending the hand to help (cynical view I know)

Most likely still is.

If there was one player you'd put your house on kicking a goal it'd be him.

Not enough has been said about his ADD, I'm no expert, but I believe while common in kids, boys especially, it's much more rare to be struggling with it as an adult?

Especially to the point of medication.

Explains a lot about him and his struggles really, IMO anyway.

Lance or James??

Yep and I think it would suit his ADD. He'd only have one small thing to focus on.

Geez he looks fat. No way he's going to drop 14 kgs in 8 weeks. He won't be chasing too many blokes

Another opportunity awaits!

If you were Ross Lyon would you consider taking on Fev on a week to week basis, the minimum wage……….would he give us something we need?
You mean even more front page exposure? Pink dildos in Fed Square with a Saints beanie on perhaps?

Why would Fev make a good kicking coach?

Say what you will,

but if he has a solid year at Casey, stays injury and incident free and we can get him for nothing...

end of the year he will certainly at least be worth a look

Anyone who's saying otherwise is kidding themselves

Firstly he may not even play at Casey this year but if does why would we want a guy with all those issues. Has he ever helped a club get into a top 4 position. No. Can he play in any other position but FF. No. Do players these days have to play in variety of positions. Yes. Could he adjust to that after a year out of the game and being 32 when he comes back. Doubt it very much.

he'll be 31, with an unfortunate history, in a game where it's expected that big, immobile players will be less and less useful. we'll have five first-team players already over 30, with three others over 29 - including five talls in that group of eight oldies.

so why would we sign another old, tall, troubled player? you'll need to have a better argument than "say what you will".

Because he’s got a flawless technique especially over a long range.

Yes so what. Does he know how to pass it on to others. Surely our coaches can see how he kicks it and can show others if they think the technique is good.

Until he has a go at it we'll never know. He is a beautiful kick of the ball. I have loved watching him over the years.

Lets just get him then and give him a go. Doesnt matter if he hasnt got the ability to pass it on and not even slightly interested in doing it.

I didn't realise that he wasn't interested in the postion. He should be. Could help some of his personal issues too. The culture at our club would probably help him.

How is Stephen King going to be as a coach? We must of known he has got the ability to pass it on.

Wouldnt have a clue how Steven King will be as a coach but we recruited him to play first. The coaching came later after they obviously saw he had the abilty to do it.

Who knows whether he will or won't but he has the makings of a specialist coach.
1. He can perform the skill exceptionally well and is considered a master within his field.
2. He has the ability to communicate very well. This is evidenced by his many (sober) media appearances.
3. He is a charismatic person. Everyone I've heard interviewed about Fev speaks exceptionally high of his charisma.
4. He has a great rapport with the players of our football club. You only need to look at the way he mingled with the players every time we beat Carlton when we he played.
5. He has the ability to make adjustments to technique where required. He made changes to his own action during his time at the Blues.

Now, naturally, a process would need to be followed before he was appointed. That would involve interviews with the coaching staff (at a minimum)...but the skills required to do the job seem to be there.
