80+ cops accessed 17 yr old's file

Victoria Police says an ethical standards inquiry has found that widespread checks on the file of the teenage girl at the centre of the St Kilda nude photo scandal, were justifiable.

At least 80 police are said to have accessed the file.

The Deputy Commissioner Keiran Walshe says the inquiry is still continuing, but 80 requested background checks have been cleared as legitimate and necessary activities.

"This young individual has had a considerable amount of contact with police over recent times and with a large number of police over recent times," he told ABC Local Radio.

"In the administrative processes that we have to do, our members are entitled to do background checks."

The one I'm talking about was with the Collingwood players at Eve Nightclub (according to media reports) and she subsequently made a police report (a couple of days later) after the South Melbourne incident was reported widely.

Never heard about it or read about it.

Yes, it was Collingwood player implicated in the original pregnancy claim months prior to the GF, as well as our own players...at the time it was said she had a thing for Queensland players! Put 2 and 2 together.

Why is it only Sam Gilbert?

Hmmm...maybe because there were about 800 possibilities and no concrete clues as to who the other player(s) could be? OK, we've all seen the mail saying it was a particular Collingwood player, but honestly, with that 'little ray of sunshine' it could have been anyone from anywhere. The media already had Sam Gilbert tagged, why bother focusing on others?
