Is generating a lot of discussion on radio..
Let's hope it stays as effective as it was tonight.

finally keeping his head over the ball AND keeping it steady as he kicks
but his ball drop is still a little high
MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE
Congrats to the coach who has made these changes

If he was kicking it softer, he'd be criticised for not kicking through the ball...Spinner wrote:... Still kicks it too hard.
I noticed it during the game. Mainly his head staying down over his thigh as opposed to a keeping your eye on the ball before and after impact. I guess you can't change much by keeping your eye on the ball after impact whilst goalkicking. Keeping his head down has improved the accuracy of his drop and contact.

It was very noticeable at the game and was very effective, although I've been saying for a while that he kicks it too hard. I'm not saying he should go "soft" on it, but there are no extra points for it going through the goals any faster. Timing is the most important thing. Those on the pro golf tours apparently only swing at about 80% for a good reason and Roo would probably benefit from looking to time it well, rather than trying to boot the s*** out of it.
If his accuracy continues, we could be a goal or two better off per week, especially if he stays closer to goals, with the likes of Gilbert/Gamble/Lynch doing the lead-up to the wings work.
Go Roo!
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
Roo said that all the boys had been practising getting their heads well over the ball. Great to hear and about time. Its amazing how little time is spent in training players to kick better for goal.
I'm sure Dempster had a similar action to Roo when he booted that perfect supergoal. Benny McEvoy is still a little way off technique though lol.

was pretty obvious at the time.. perhaps a ex collingwood coach has helped him over summer as he was a very good kick.
