the back 6
Well, after tonight, I'd have to say that I think our back six is fine and that Zac should not be brought back in barring injury. Thoughts?

Good question ...how would the back six look like for '11
if you left say Gwilt Zac Bakes
Gram Fish Raph
Sorry I have forgotten dempster playing a role in the back six as the other pocket or flank as he can play small and tall.
Tommy the irish is coming along nicely and will hopefully get some senior time as the season progresses, but as for know i think Ross and the crew will stick to what has served them well with just a few tinkerings with how they go about it

With Gram, Goddard, Ray and Gilbo occasionally going through to assist.
Yep i think Dempster has to be in our starting back 6 now. Gives us more run off the backline then Bakes can provide and can play small or tall.
That would be my back 6 aswell...

Pity it wasnt during the regular season as he would have finally got his first lot of brownlow votessaint66au wrote:Ditto...Blake was close to BOG for mine and Gwilt just got better as the game went on..Badlands wrote:Loved the games of Blake and Gwilt in particular.
If Gwilt finds another 10% improvement on last year, he's in for a fantastic 2011.
Dempster is a better option than Baker IMHO.
I just have the feeling if he was made to feel it was his role this year, his confidence would reach the kind of level it did by the finals last year.
Sure he can still turn the ball over at times, but the biggest difference is he will play on and keep the ball moving forward, even has the potential to push forward and kick a goal.
Last year they played the same amount of games, probably be fair to say they were both as effective as each other in their run with role, however Dempster had 18 inside 50's, Baker 5.

Baker doesn't play half the season and people are already forgetting how good he was. Stopped pretty much every small forward he was up against.
The backline wasn't the problem last year and will stay relatively the same this year.
B: Blake Dawson Baker
HB: Gwilt Fisher Clarke
*Assumming they continue with Gilbert up forward.
Walsh will be pushing for Dawson's spot, but unless Dawson is injured or terrible, he won't get it.
Dempster, Simpkin and maybe Cripps will all be pushing for a spot.

Re: the back 6
depends on the opposition. zac can play on real talls and resting ruckmen.hungry for a premiership wrote:Well, after tonight, I'd have to say that I think our back six is fine and that Zac should not be brought back in barring injury. Thoughts?
