Jumper presentation at Season Launch tonight
This seems have slipped under the radar. It appears that the players will be presented with their 2011 jumpers at the (mainly corporate) Season Launch tonight, rather than at Family Day as has been the case in previous years.
Seems a bit rough to take away what was one of the highlights of the day for many, including the kids who got to present them
Is this a new thing? Ive not been to Family Day since they moved it to Frankston

THE BUBBLE HAS BURST
2011 player sponsor
It looks like they still do the presentation at the Family Day. Got an email during the week for my son who is a Junior member inviting us to upgrade to Rooey's Recruits for an extra $70. You then go into a draw to be picked out to present a jumper to the players at the Family Day. Long gone are the days when that was open to all the Juniors. My son previously presented Stephen Milne his jumper and that was such a highlight and confirmed his support for the Saints. Can't afford to add that extra $70 to our Memberships.

Why did he go so late in the draft if he is so good?Bernard Shakey wrote:Jamie Cripps and he will be a gun.bigcarl wrote:who's the new no. 35?fingers wrote:Gram tweeted about the jumper presentation today....said the new #35 will be a star.
Fingers crossed.
Not knocking the kid, considering you get to training, I will take your word over my ignorance of him, but a mid 20's selection will be a gun?
Interesting.
Lance or James??

But then again Joey went at pick #37.
I know that just after the Draft Cripps was found to have diabetes. Was there a whisper going around earlier?

From what I've heard he will play senior football very early this year and is the halfback that will release Gilbert forward.joffaboy wrote:Why did he go so late in the draft if he is so good?Bernard Shakey wrote:Jamie Cripps and he will be a gun.bigcarl wrote:who's the new no. 35?fingers wrote:Gram tweeted about the jumper presentation today....said the new #35 will be a star.

I was lucky enough to attend tonight's launch, all players were presented with their NAB Cup jumpers, except for the four suspended boys.
Earlier in the night Ross Lyon made quite an inspiring speech, mentioning that Adam Kingsley was bought into the clubs coaching ranks partly because he'd been part of a side that'd come close three times before finally claiming a flag on their fourth attempt. However Ross's strongest comment was "Whatever happens in our past, doesn't effect our future", a comment delivered with intent and determination.

The only other absentees were Kosi and Gardi.
Tonight I think was an amalgamation of
- the sponsors meet the players night
- a three course "Season Launch" evening
- and the official jumper presentation
Was a very good night.
So much better than the Sponsor night last year at the non airconditioned Riva on a 35 degree day.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Agree with Beno88 that Ross spoke very very well.
He basically implored the boys to make a big effort
He said that 17 sides could win it but not all will be prepared to pay the price.
The only thing he said that didn't sit well with me was that none of us are perfect.
We make mistakes and we must aknowledge our mistakes.
Nick Riewoldt had made a couple of mistakes.
I think that is unfair on Nick.
I don't think telling some nuisance woman to F-off after sticking a camera in his face at a private function despite being asked not to is a mistake.
Nor is not retaliating to couple of bogans invading his space in Sth Melb last month a mistake.
I don't think Nick has anything to apologise for.
But I think Ross' reference was a piece of spin designed to placate the media and was all about perception rather than substance.

Greg Right Westaway opened the official part of the night after the meet and greet with your sponsored player.
He only said "right" eight times right.
But he did pay special tribute to The Doc.
Later they put on an awesome video of about 5 minutes of Mr Magic just displaying his magic to the tune of "Unforgettable".
I have to admit the Doc could do things that no other player could do.
Probably the best ground player ever.
Harvey did a bit of a Q&A with MC Willis.
Good to have him back.

In times where less than $10 was spent on recruiting....
That will rarely happen this decade let along the decade before...
It still happens, though obviously not to the extent of James HirdSpinner wrote:HSVKing wrote:James Hird went #79.
