From the AGM.
Strong words, now for some followup on the field perhaps?
Good to see no board challenge and Rooey as life member (together with Tiprat and The Blake).

First of all, opposition supporters will again use this article as more fuel to rip and tear shreds from the saints.
So What riewoldt says is true, but its also true our players are not walking the talk.
There is only one option for redemption and it involves the players staring up into the den of the gods and collectively saying "f*** it"
f*** it all, just run onto the ground come round 1 and start enjoying the hell out of your opportunity, talent, youth, energy. Play like the doc.

I'm not sure what other way you can read it though, it's an 'everyone is out to get us' message.
He must of felt it appropriate, but I don't see it's timeliness.
It's also completely removed from Ross Lyon's message really.

He wears his heart on his sleeve. At some club's that means he's automatically feted as a champion. At St Kilda that makes him a victim.
Fair dinkum I wish this shallow PR spin bulls*** connotation on everything would f*** off and die a death.
It's football, for christ's sakes. The rest is pure rubbish.
Well and truly over the whole twisted garbage.
Tipping point was Fat slug Robinson this arvo tweeting 'the St K players should all go toe Baldock's funeral to get some perspective'.
I mean a bloke dies, a true champion of the game, and the grubby dog journo that he is can't help but erect a soap box on Baldock's still warm carcass and try to play moral crusader.
Football. Freaking FOOTBALL.
Remember it? You know where blokes bust their guts chasing a Sherrin around? That game?
For christ's sakes...sick to death of too much to list...

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Nope, and I realise that may change the impact of the message.Maxstar22 wrote:Were you there tonight K?SainterK wrote:and everyone is entitled to oneMaxstar22 wrote:I think it may read like that K, but honestly when he said the words out loud, it wasn't anything like that at all. However I know how the footy world will react, that's a given.
So why feed it?
Nobody is trying to bring down the club IMO, people are just trying to highlight the club is doing a pretty good job of that themselves at the moment.
I wasn't having a dig, I was going to say if you were there you should have joined us for a cuppa afterSainterK wrote:Nope, and I realise that may change the impact of the message.Maxstar22 wrote:Were you there tonight K?SainterK wrote:and everyone is entitled to oneMaxstar22 wrote:I think it may read like that K, but honestly when he said the words out loud, it wasn't anything like that at all. I personaly don't believe it was meant to be a "scathing" attack at all. I think he was trying to be positive and motivate the members to stick with the club through a crappy time.
Could you imagine what they would be saying had he said nothing at all?
Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Here is what he said....
To the players, we know what we stand for," Riewoldt said.
"There's a lot of people out there at the moment who are trying to break us down, but we know what we're about and we're not going to fracture.
"We're the ones who are going to come out on top, you can be sure of that. Now is the time, as much as any in our history when people are coming for us, who want to denigrate us, who want to run us down, that we've got to stick fat.
"We are St Kilda ... be proud to be a St Kilda person."
Now losing the bolded bits....

The Greg Denham story is lazy journalism coz it simply picks up on the Robert Walls article earlier in the week. The theory being that Lyon may quit the Saints because his players are acting like twerps etc.
That simply doesn't happen. To walk out would be to concede defeat and ultra competitive types, like all AFL coaches are, simply don't do that.
When coaches do leave to take up other offers it's because their existing club doesn't fully support them or they're frustrated by a lack of funding or facilities etc. That certainly doesn't apply in this instance. Coaches don't walk out because the players, who they are largely responsible for, are misbehaving!
It is simply lazy, opportunistic crap!

Thanks for writing what i would've written but for this fandangled smart phone...and when you actually look at each incident, there's not a lot these players have done wrong - certainly not enough for a bloke like RL to leave.Dr Spaceman wrote:The Greg Denham story is lazy journalism coz it simply picks up on the Robert Walls article earlier in the week. Good to hear Roo's words, more importantly, what was the mood from the supporters?
He'd be silly not to consider an offer if it was significantly better than what
The Saints can offer.
