As the fall-out from the six-week suspensions of four players breaking a ''commonsense'' curfew during a drug-and-alcohol-fuelled incident last Thursday continued, there were claims four players in a separate incident had been caught urinating in public and were involved in a scuffle with two locals where punches were thrown.
'As we sit here today, we are in a pretty good position here that didn't occur. We have dealt with the legitimate incident, well, not even an incident really, stupid behaviour and reckless behaviour, and dealt with it strongly. I am not aware of anything further.''

Disgusting reporting. The two page report in the sun today was so one sided it was not funny. Talk about a BEAT UP.
Add to that so called journalists making things up from rumours they hear......

didn't one of the essendon forums make up a huge rumour about some players, offered it to a staff writer at a online newspaper and it got a run based on nothing.... rings a bell...HSVKing wrote:Would love to see who could make a journo believe the dumbest story they can think of and get it printed.

I remember one time during an off season trading game me and Saintbot I think it was made a trade. I was controlling St Kilda, he was controlling Brisbane. We made a trade of something like Jed Adcock and something for Milne and Gilbert (when Milne was struggling and Gilbert had only played a couple of games mind you).Solar wrote:didn't one of the essendon forums make up a huge rumour about some players, offered it to a staff writer at a online newspaper and it got a run based on nothing.... rings a bell...HSVKing wrote:Would love to see who could make a journo believe the dumbest story they can think of and get it printed.

Well anyway, to add an extra level of depth to the game saintbot wrote up a mock review of the trade from the coach of Brisbane's point of view.
Somehow this started circulating a bit, people believed it was a real trade and Billy Brownless and somebody else was actually talking about the trade the next day on SEN... the funniest thing was that the real trade week was at least a week away and nobody noticed until a poster from Saintsational called in.

On BF a year or two back there was a trade rumour started on the North board specifically to see if the papers would run with it. Involved Gavin Urquhart for a pick or player I think.
Was in the paper and discussed pretty much every day for the entire trade week when there was absolutely zero basis to it.

Michael N took offence at a line of discussion on AW the other evening in relation to their inferances on Lovett- and stressed how his behaviours were inherited from other clubs..
