If it is the Nab cup it will be the GF. I hope it is the NAB cup because surely in the season proper we are trying to win.DWOODROW wrote:Not bad. FB Dawson (Blake backup maybe Simpkin)
CHB: Fisher (Gilbert Backup)
Rebounding Backs: (2 from) Gwilt, Ray, Gram, Clarke, Cripps, Peake
Negating Backs: (2 from depending upon oppo): Blake, Baker, Geary, Dempster
Mids: (inside)(2) Lenny, Armo, Polo
(In/Out)(3) Joey, Goddard, Dal Santo, Schneider, Gram, McQualter, Eddy
Defensive Mid/Tagger(1): Jones, Geary, McQualter
Key Forwards(2): Roo, Kosi, Lynch, Stanley, Walsh
Mid Forwards(2 or 3): Gamble, Gilbert, Heyne
Small forwards(1 or 2): Milne, Schneider, Steven
Rucks (1 start): Gards, McEvoy, Kosi, Stanley
Interchange : 1 Ruck/back up KPF, 1 rebounding Back, 1 In/Out Mid
Sub : Utility Mid size, role could be tailor made for a Clarke/Gamble type who could plug a hole up forward or down back as need arises.

constructive as ever plugger. where do u see the issues? defence, midfield or attack? im willing to go out on a limb with simpkin and smith as debutants who have what it takes to stick around.plugger66 wrote:DWOODROW wrote:If it is the Nab cup it will be the GF. Well I have problems at the moment with everyone mentioned bar maybe Stanley and Gamble. Lets see some of these guys prove themselves to be maybe half decent players before we think they are better then the players they are replacing. Sorry I am backing most of the current players who have got us to the last 2 GF's.Con Gorozidis wrote:plugger66 wrote:constructive as ever plugger. where do u see the issues? defence, midfield or attack?DWOODROW wrote:If it is the Nab cup it will be the GF. I posted this in another thread.
I was interested if people expect Gardiner to play many games this year? I'm thinking he might end up being used like King this year.
How we use the subs will play a big role in how the rucks are structured.
Anyway, my best 24 or so for 2011:
BACK: J.Gwilt Z.Dawson S.Dempster
HALF BACK: R.Clarke S.Fisher N.Winmar/J.Cripps
CENTER: N.Dal Santo L.Hayes L.Montagna
FOLLOWERS: B.McEvoy B.Goddard C.Jones
HALF FORWARD: S.Gilbert R.Stanley A.Schneider
FORWARD: S.Milne N.Riewoldt R.Gamble
INT: F.Ray J.Steven J.Koschitzke
SUB (from): J.Blake J.Geary D.Armitage
Hopefully one of Winmar or Cripps to come along to play on the back flank and add some pace & skill.
Kosi/Stanley to provide Big Mac with support in the ruck. Kosi also fill in full forward & Roo to play CHF when Stanley resting or rucking.
I like the idea of Blake for the sub. Can go into ruck/rover or play back and release Fisher/Gwilt. Otherwise the extra runner in Geary.
And to think S.Baker, D.Polo, A.McQualter, B.Peake & R.Eddy all have experience and could step in.
Improvement from T.Simpkin, N.Heyne, T.Lynch, W.Johnson, T.Walsh & A.Smith to put the pressure on.
I'm clearly making assumptions that Cripps or Winmar can make it.
And injuries could play a, hopefully minor, part.
How do people see the sub rule being used by teams?

i made a bad oversight and left montagna out of mine. total oversight. obviously hes in our top 10.
s
only thing where i really differ from you is i have simpkin replacing dempster - but dempster has proven himself against small fwds so i see a role for dempster. maybe we need some more pace - that centre line is good but lacks a yard.

agree. needs a run and carry type in there. as great a players as dal/hayes/monty are. sometimes they hand ball it in circles to each other cos noone cos they are great in close at avoiding tackles but none of them can say thanks mate and burst off and break out of the zone.borderbarry wrote:The performance of our mid-field in GF 2 makes me think that more speed is definitely needed across there. That is a priority. Who we get it from is another matter.
this is pretty well documented and known. just buggered if i know who its going to be who actually does it. crikeys. hopefully smith or cripp or winmar.
