Not too many who train harder than Rob Eddy. Deserves another chance and worth the punt. Rob will leave no stone unturned in 2011. Hope he can rectify his skill weaknesses.

He is still young and 3 months ago was in the best 22 of a team that drew a grand final, definitely worth a punt at this price.

ST KILDA
The Saints were very specific in their need for speed in the early picks in the national draft. Then they followed with two creative forwards. In the rookie draft they've rounded things out with another speedy midfielder and a creative half-back who plays as a sweeper. The speed and skill levels at Moorabbin look to have gone up.

I can only hope for more speed and skill levels at Seaford.
Who cares what happens at Moorabbin.

While I appreciate that you're supporting a Saints player, I personally never saw Eddy in our best 22, he did bugger all in the GFs and frankly I just don't think he's up to it.

Having said that, I'd love to be wrong and good luck to him.

If he’s to make it back he’ll have to come from further behind than Kiwi!

Let’s be honest, the guy is now on the rookie list and barring an unusual set of circumstances, won’t be available for senior selection.

We all expect the likes of Armo, Geary, Steven, Heyne etc to improve and fill positions in the midfield and/or forward line. In addition, the club has drafted a couple of ready made senior mid sized players and has loaded up on this type of kid in both the National Draft and Rookie Draft.

If Eddy is to progress, and that’s a big IF, he’s going to have to completely reinvent himself. Eddy circa 2009-2010 is just not gonna cut it.

I do wish him all the best however if he somehow manages to get back into our best 22 it’s a fair bet a lot of those other youngsters have failed – and that can only be bad news for the club and for us :(

"unusual"? as a doctor, leo, i'm sure you realise that every year there is at least one long-term injury which allows a rookie to be promoted. in fact, it would only be an unusual set of circumstances if there wasn't a long-term injury.

i'd be surprised (but happy!) if any of the rookies pushed for senior selection next year, so eddy may actually be not a lot worse off than he was this year.

Yes bergholt, you are correct.

However if and when a spot opens up due to a LTI it's not always filled. And if it is, then all going well I would suspect someone like Tommy Walsh to be at the head of the list.

My point being that if a spot did open up, and if Eddy was considered the best option for an upgrade, it probably means our other mid sized fellas aren't travelling too well.

And IMO, that can only mean the teams not going too well.

time to stop being polite...

most recruits i have bagged are delisted

most i liked have made an impact

recruiting manager and list manager sacked

and most calls done in foresight....which is what irks...

i am consistently on the money...which sh*ts everyone..because it is negative and not what dreamers want to hear...get into the real world of 1 cup.

hold em accountable to f ups....and not suck the clubs d*ck over every decision is what i do...i am tired of excuses and will not accept every call until it leads to a cup....

I notice you never had the guts to respond to my request for the picks we should have taken this year. I suppose it is easier to criticize people if you arent proven wrong.

Theres a big difference between "holding them accountable" and the air of "I know better than the recruiting staff" that regrettably your post reeks of

Who do you like this time, who do you dislike?

Who would you have preferred the club recruited in place of your dislikes?

Not sure why we have to stop being polite?

I'm just trying to think when you've ever been polite. Oh well when your right all the time I guess you can command that kind of respect.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

The vast majority of draft picks wind up delisted. Successfully predicting that Justin Sweeney wouldn't make it doesn't make you special. Picking Sam Gilbert as a player to watch just means you have eyes.

Here's a prediction: you'll continue to go to VFL games and get an ego about it. You'll randomly trash young players before they've had a chance to spit. If they then come good you'll pretend it never happened and if they continue to struggle you'll once again claim victory. The only ones you'll praise are the really obvious ones (that Jamie Cripps looks like a player now that I've seen his photo). You'll parade around here like anyone here actually gives a crap about your predictions.

And you won't be polite about it.

However I agree, Peake was obviously found wanting. You get the strong feeling that he was not the one calling the shots in this years drafts.

I have a feeling that Peake tried to be too clever with some of his picks...which was Bevo trait as well.

However Steven will come good I think though...as will Stanley.

Okay let's stop being polite. You are a wanker and are only interested in your ego.

Tell us who you've shafted and who'll make it this year.

You need a team of Derek Hine and Geoff Walsh.
