Not sure it is relevant, and I am certainly not going to repeat his name here, but wasn't a sergeant involved in the case who was a trainer at St Kilda? Surely not one in the same??

Must be a slow news day
MAY have been linked to the call to the rumor file on 3aw
very very old news
head line of the thread and nes article overthe top.
I would suggest many a call to the RUMOUR file would possibly have some connection to Police...just taling to freinds who them may ring...........
even the occasional copper
MEDIA will milk it though.....typical

as I stated- that was my understanding of it - many stories have been raised and rehashed this year. so all becomes confusing.SENsaintsational wrote:Sorry, I get it now. Nice to know the legal profession is moving with its' usual swiftness before anyone can forget and then imagine what happened.
Everyone will have vivid memories of what happened after only 18 months.
Afterall I can remember every detail of what I did on this day a year ago so everyone will remember after 18 months.
I got out of bed obviously, not sure if it was morning or afternoon and I probably went to bed between dusk and dawn.
Surely that is enough for a court, lawyers can make the rest up if we are not sure.
We wouldn't want to rush the poor overpaid worthless leeches.
They may get their horsehair in a knot.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

If they have been obtaining evidence all this time then surely the trial must last at least 3 months.
Gee, they must have interviewed at least 200 eye witnesses from the bedroom.

I have no idea what you mean by "12 days after the incident"....
The amount of audits obtained were numerous, and take considerable time, when you consider the amount of audit request police conduct...
Consideration for legal action had to be obtained before consideration of any disciplinary action...
Consideration whether the "leak" may have jeopardised the case against the accused Lovett...
How's that for starters

Also ace....
There are other issues to consider...
"conflict of interest"...
an investigating member of the police force having previously worked with the subject member....
audits after audit are required and again it takes time...
Please don't belittle the legal system, you have to cross and tick EVERY box and once you have done that the DPP want more statements......, reading every police member that attended the scene and notes tken at the time ....
Saints players that were there at the time and shortly afterwards...
Again, it takes time
To get a charge in that time frame is a good result, considering we had audit issues during that time frame and had to wait 3 months to resolve.
I just detest the logic that some people think that it should be resolved earlier, when you consider we request audits and it just sits there because they are many other audits before you...
You just have to look at Operation Barrett that resulted in the sacking of a few members and the resignation of many more .....
There is only one or two people that do those audits, so you just have to Waite for those results and do some analysis...
The time frame is a good one IMO
I am sure I mentioned this case in the past and was accused of "big noting" myself...
saintspremeriers typically agreed with the majority ....
I am not "big noting" myself, I did the analysis of this case and presented it, pretty simple really...
I have never provided any evidence on this site as to the "subject member" his work location or any other details that would incriminate anyone....
Consider this, if you will.....
There were a number of detectives at the scene....
There were a number of saints players there and lots more shortly afterwards...
Just how long does anyone think it takes to run audits on all of them?????
Again, I believe we have done well

My point with 12 days or it could be 13 or 14 days after is - no one trully remembers what they did on a given day 18 months prior to a court hearing.St Fidelius wrote:Let me just say this....ace wrote:Now I am sure you can tell me in great detail what you did 12 days after the incident.St Fidelius wrote:ace wrote:Nice to know the legal profession is moving with its' usual swiftness before anyone can forget and then imagine what happened.

They only have vague recollections & perceptions and yet the courts behave as if every detail is perfectly remembered like it happened a couple of minutes ago.
That can of beer you opened 18 months ago, did any spray come out.
If you say you remember then we both know you are lying.
If a court want a witnesses to remember details then the court must hear that evidence a bit sooner than 18 months.
Why can't the case be heard tommorrow - honest answer, tomorrow doesn't suit the horse hairs.

All you have to do, to see how Vicpol works, is to read page 2 of last Saturday's Age. That's the Underbelly page - John Silvester and Andrew Rule.
Last week they described, in detail, the Ocean Grove bus incident in the Jewish 1/4. Long story short - the driver of the OG bus was a cop. When the alleged assault victim told the attending coppers his assailant wore a pink tie, the driver jumped back on the bus and told the passengers to take their ties off.
The driver of the bus was a copper. He has since been promoted and never sanctioned for the blatant interference in an investigation - the Police Association would not allow it.
Do yourselves a google search and read the full story. It's a disgrace.

By my calculations this cop made his call to the "rumour file" about 4 hours after the "alleged" offence took place. He/she probably thought that he/she only had to wait until this Friday before collecting a $67,000 Lexus as the prize for rumour of the year.
Previous winners include 2 cops and a VicRoads Internal Investigations Officer !!

[quote="The OtherThommo"]All you have to do, to see how Vicpol works, is to read page 2 of last Saturday's Age.
It's a disgrace.[/quote
WOW corruption of the highest order he should go before the War crimes tribunal at the UN. Go back to watching the ABC and reading 'The Big Issue' you clown.
So thanks for letting us know how the 10,000 + members of Vic Pol work based on the actions of 1 off duty copper driving a bus full of drunken footballers you pole smoker!
