Heard a rumour that StKFC will have a new recruiting manager next year. Has anyone else heard anything? If so, that will be 5 assistant coaches, 1 list manager and 1 recruiting manager all gone from season 2010.

Silvagni was always going to leave - wanted more time with his family, less demanding involvement. Loyalty and friendship with Lyon convinced him to go 1 more year in 2010.

Tudor was a loss, but his best mate John Longmire offered him a job - hard to keep ex-team mates and friends apart, particularly for an aspiring senior coach who wants to build his resume?

Elshaug walked away after 20 years in coaching, with family issues and fatigue from the game. His voluntary help to Lyon during the finals series proves that there was nothing more than genuine personal tiredness with his departure.

Drain took the heat (and fairly IMO) for the Lovett decision. He drove it and did much of the groundwork. It was a big stuff up for the club, and there needed to be some accountability.

Brian Royal left because he got offered something better. We didn't rate him enough to be a full time assistant ahead of the other coaches we employed. He stated he was more than happy to continue at the Saints if the Melbourne offer had not arisen.



In life, some people should accept that sometimes events happen by coincidence. There are no conspiracies, there is no smoking gun - it's actually just the way it is.


I don't see any problem with the turnover of staff, because you need to renew your organisation, and there were genuine reasons for all of them leaving.


To add to that, there is often turnover amongst recruiting managers every 4-5 years. Fantasia left the Crows, Dodoro took over at the Bombers, Scott Clayton has gone to the Gold Coast, Hine to Collingwood to take over from Judkins etc.

Some clubs have long serving recruiting managers - we had Beveridge for 20 years.

A brutally honest assessment of Peake's performance would probably see us review his position anyway - not like he has set the world on fire?

funny who the HUN calles it a mass EXODUS ... what is the Geelong situation then ? as a club we didnt have one player openly ask to be traded .. not one player walk out on the club and not one player poached by the GC....

the media makes us paranoid-- Pies lost players and coaches too...... oh yeh but they have flag so it's ok..

JP's drafting record may not be crash hot but who's fault is that? He didn't have any of his own picks this year and you accredit Lovett to Matthew Drain. Maybe he is paying the price for calling out Tom Lynch's name.

And after all, he only has had the selections he has been handed after the ladder order and trading.

Comparing the players liking of the coach to the assistant coaches is not comparing apples with apples. They dont work with him, they play for him.

Dodoro has been at Ess FC for nearly 9-10 years now, Hine took over from Judkins and was at the club with Judkins. Yes Fantasia was short term at the Crows and Clayton was appointed by the AFL to their new team.

AFL Recruiting staff have the lowest turnover of any department in the industry and its looking more and more that staff are getting worn out and ts one way or the highway.

I work 70-80 hours a week, every week. Boo hoo life is hard. But I get the rewards.

Don't understand why football clubs should be relaxed and comfortable places when the rest of society is not.

We lost Max and Ball last year to the Pies and look at their game plan.

Collingwood have lost a few assistants this year, and we got one of them and Geelong have lost a large portion of their coaching staff.

Teams are behind the Geelong, St Kilda and Collingwood game plans and are paying to catch up.
