Saint Polo prepared to play a variety of roles

Post: # 1025595Post saintlee »

Not much new in this article, but given how quite things are, thought I would post anyway:

"ST KILDA recruit Dean Polo says his versatility could be his biggest asset as he tries to revive his AFL career.

Polo, who was delisted by Richmond at the end of the 2010 season, was a surprise selection by the Saints in last week's NAB AFL Draft.

In fact there were audible gasps in the Gold Coast convention centre when Saints recruiting manager John Peake read the 24-year-old's name with the 103rd selection.

Polo said he feared his career may have been over when the Tigers cut him.

"You always have that in the back of your mind and it's not a very nice feeling, but I felt that I've still got so much to offer in AFL football," he said.

"I've been given that opportunity and now that I have, there is no looking back and I'm going to take a hold of it."

What is wrong with him being the next Aaron Fiora? . Very happy if we get about 70 games out of him.

Yeah questioned my own logic after i posted.
Begley prob a better choice. He may end up playing very few or no games. But as mentioned, for pick 103, there's no real loss.

He was worth the shot. Hopefully he can go on and play a few for us.

As long as he isn't an Ackland or some other discard that walks after a better offer after his career is revived at the saints.

Pros:

1.Exceptional hands
2.Rarely gets beaten in a one on one contest
3.Hard at it
4.Work Rate

Cons:

1.Kicking under pressure ( all though not too bad)
2. Not overly quick

Needs to be played in 1 position for consecutive weeks and the coach to keep faith with him unlike what he had at the Tigers

Pet hate.

My belt is loose.

Last year West Coast tended to lose.

So I'm a f***wit.

Sorry.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

alot....Aaron Fiora had one decent season in 07. We had to delist him and had to pay him out for an entire season. He was a complete flop in the 08 final series. He gave us nothing in that finals series. He was embarrasing.
