Frankston or Seaford? !!

Post: # 1024592Post Eastern »

Our new training base is at Belvedere Park in SEAFORD, yet the club is always refering to it as FRANKSTON. I know that I'm being picky but which is it/should it be? Or, should we refer to it as BAYSIDE or something else? !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Either way it's a monumental F*** UP and the entire board should be sacked!

I sympathise with the sentiments regarding the new location. However sacking THIS board seems wrong when the whole mess concerning the Moorabbin redevelopment was at its height/depth :? during the Fraser/Butterss era.

Archie Fraser sold the concept to the current board and they bought it!

Butterss was trying to locate the club in St kilda or as close to it as possible!

It's a total F*** UP and that's how it will pan out, eventually it will become obvious to even those including the current board who right now are too thick to know any better!

Nah, barks is right.

We should move to St Kilda, re-instate Rix in the Rux 'cos he Rox, and sack Thomas (again!).

Now NOW!!!!! Lets not go THERE!!!!!!!
I agree that it would have been better to remain at Moorabbin, but the fact is that for whatever reason, we are now at Seaford. Nothing to be gained in sacking the current board now.

This thread reminds me of the current season of the Apprentice (anyone watching?)

You don't just get to 'check out' of supporting a club because they forge ahead with something you may not agree with.

It's done, we're moving, aiming constant criticism at the club about it isn't exactly going to make them abandon the move at the last minute.

I'd find it hard to believe someone as passionate about the Saints as you B4E, wouldn't support the club anymore because of a relocation?

Why don't you try and embrace it, you may actually find a positive or two, or you just gonna keep sulking in the corner?

I also don't support the move, but like B4E still support the Saints.

Can't think of anything at all positive about the move. From what I saw this week, the playing surface is nowhere as good as Moorabbin, it's next to a mosquito infested bog, and in the middle of boganville.

I'd recommend a change back to the Junction Oval for training purposes, but would you want these nice country boys corrupted by Fitzroy Street?

To those who dont support the move can they tell me why. Firstly we basically do not have open training session now because they are closed so you cant go to training anyway and secondly if it is open at Seaford which it obviously has to be then the drive from Moorabbin 25 minutes. Surely 2-3 times a year, which is what we have now as open, wouldnt hurt anyone.
The only reason I can see why some are upset is that these posters play for our club and live in Port Melbourne. However I doubt that is the case.

St Kilda is a suburb in the City of Port Phillip.
I would hate to see the team renamed "Port Phillip".

Lets see....post game Pie players will stroll over the road and get use of ALL of their facilities for post game recovery.

Saints....are going to have to make do in this regard as our main training base is no where near Docklands/MCG.

Now while YES it will be great to get leading edge facilities, and they will be when finished and this will therefore be an improvement on this year....but having out training base so remote from where games are actually played is always going to a disdavantage compared to clubs who have them on the doorstep of where their games are mainly played (MCG and Docklands).

So we are better off than we were, but the Pies will hvaea "1%er " on us.

Well I cant speak for the pies but the Saints havent done rehab after games for about 7 years so I doubt it makes any difference and when they did do it they used a beach which they can still do now where ever we train.

NEWSFLASH:
pies dont do post game at olympic park they do them in the MCG/Docklands changeroom. post game recovery consists of a massage and something to eat.
they go from from postgame recovery in the changeroom to home the same as everyone else in the AFL.
next day recovery for the pies is done at st kilda sea baths.
