Sewell could be another one - mature aged VFL player who constantly gets mentioned around draft time. It would be nice to see a couple of VFL players given a chance after what Podsiadly and Barlow have show this year.

Giles would be the equivalent to picking up a VFL player. A few years in the SA competition. He would probably be more experienced than any of our ruckmen except Gardiner.

Definitely a ruckman, Giles/Cope/re-rookie McGrath.
Myles Sewell/Michael Hibberd/Tom Schneider
Robert Eddy
Kane Murphy if we can still put him on the NSW scholarship supplementary list

There are a few players not picked up who could be goers. Harvey tested really well at the combine I believe, Von Bertouch was predicted to go @ 35 in the AFL phantom draft, Otten, Walker, Mullett, Solly, there are plenty of players around with a little something to offer. Isn't Pendlebury's brother available? What about Tregear? I'll say it, is there any chance of an experienced player being rookied such as TJ or Hanson (or is it allowed)? I doubt we'd go for them now though, more likely Eddy or Miles if its an ex-player.

Brad Harvey was picked to go to us in the "Draft Machine" at pick 24 but was not picked up at all . Maybe he is worth a shot as he seems to have slipped of the radar .

I would like to see us pick up a ruckman for sure. All of our current rookies are big blokes, Gaertner, Archer and Walsh. One or two quick indigenous boys would not go astray either. Would Choo Choo be worth another look? He has apparently been going very well up North.

Choo Choo has been ordinary in the WAFL magoos.

Well there are still quite a lot of Indigenous boys available, I think only three were taken on Thursday, Bennell, Ugle, and Skinner. Milera and Rankine, both from SA, look to be among the best of the small brigade, with a number of boys of about Raphs size, Stevens, Cooyou, Ninyette, Yarran, and Ah Mat-Watkins. Plus there is another Motlop and another Rioli.

Why "indigenous boys"? I think we should target balding players. Look at Judd, Ablett, Chapman. Surely there are some balding players who are available.

The "draft machine" was only fans picking who they wanted. Brad Harvey didn't really deserve to be drafted, it was only his draft combine results that put him on the radar. 1st in leap and 2nd in 20m sprint, but his actual football ability has a big question mark on it. However he'd probably worth a later rookie spot as he does have some potential, well at least some athletic potential.

This. Why not take best available.
I want them to target in and under mids/clearance players, with bigger bodies 80kg + ready to play. Help for Hayes (and Armitage)

I'll be happy with a couple of mids,a project ruckman and a tall around 194 cm...hopefully all with some potential....

And all with good kicking actions....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Relisting EDDY again as a rookie!

Post: # 1024886Post WinnersOnly »

Relisting EDDY again as a rookie can only be because of how highly regarded he is by his team mates and the club as a person ! Clubs need selfless blokes like him around to keep the other more talented players grounded.

HOWEVER football is a brutal industry and if the SAINTS select EDDY and miss out on other mature natural midfielders like Ed Curnow, Dan Nicholson or Shane Traegar then I for one will be disappointed !

Still trying to get my head around these stats. 7.7 + 3.3 = 20? Someone help me here....

the 7.7 and 3.3 are for the NAB AFL U18s (Vic Country/Metro). Whereas his 20 disposals are for the local comp (Eastern Rangers). Just guessing. I'm not sure if the national champs were known as the NAB u18s.

You mean the players who don't get caught taking steroids.

I would have thought Gamble would be happy now that St Kilda drafted him in the National Draft.

I think Jack Anthony, Bachar Houli and Cameron Bruce may nominate for the PSD.

I predict that Jackson Ferguson will be called at St Kilda's 5th pick in the rookie draft - seeing that he has aleady been pre-selected as a St Kilda former NSW scholarship rookie.
